Hi guys, newbie here, would really appreciate a bit of help, please.
Have just found a problem with my 2003 Hdi estate. After changing a brakelight bulb, I realised that my rear lights and front sidelights weren't working (both sides). The dashboard lights and all other circuits seem to be operating fine.
It's been suggested to me that the problem is one of the "electronic fuseboxes" - either the one under the bonnet or the one under the dash and this is a common failure point. Not sure if they mean the actual fusebox or a bsi (or are they the same thing)?
Does this sound likely and if so, can you pick them up on ebay etc or can they be repaired?
Any thoughts gratefully received.
Tks
Paul

Re: Sidelights failed - Fusebox problem?
Have you tried another bulb,
sometimes if theres anything wrong with a brake light bulb or if its been put in wrong it can cause havoc on the front lights,
id be checking the bulb holder too or for a bad earth before condeming the fuse box,

That should read "the actual BSI or a fuseboxe...=ptjs1 wrote:Not sure if they mean the actual fusebox or a bsi (or are they the same thing)?
Who did the suggesting? The fusebox under the bonnet is multiplex, if that's what they mean by "electronic fusebox". The passenger fusebox by your knee isn't, however it's closely associated to the BSI, which is right above it and most definitely "electronic".
We don't have much in the way of wiring diagrams, the best I can do is this - http://www.petrila.net/pug/Service/index.htm Switching the lights on sends data to the BSI, then the feed comes out of the BSI on two wires which then go into the passenger fusebox, through fuses 20 & 21, straight back out, split up "somewhere"

Do you have power at the fuses?

Iozz and steve_earwig,
Thank you both for your input. It was indeed the brand new brake light bulb that had been fitted. The brake light filament worked fine but there must have been some bizarre fault with the sidelight filament. The filament checked fine for resistance using an ohmeter but I assume that as soon as current passed across it, it somehow breaks down and won't flow current. Weird. Anyway, changed the bulb for yet another one and bingo! all sidelights working.
I do find the Peugeot sidelight system quite complex and still don't know how it pulls all the sidleights down with one dodgy filament but hey its fixed now.
Thnaks again for your help. If you've got any thoughts on my new problem - 0.5a constant drain on the battery, I'd appreciate your thoughts on my new post!
