eBay Section???????
Whilst perusing the bay earlier I noticed a few things which no one had bid on but were pick up only
I was thinking, what if we had a section on the forum whereby, where you would in the title put the item and the location
Such as "Peugeot saloon boot liner - Fareham"
Thereby helping other members who may be near that local to grab themselves a bargain!

Re: eBay Section???????
Alternately you could save Peugeot 406 within say 50 miles of your postcode (or 25 etc) in your ebay searches, and you'll get an email from ebay every evening with all the 406 parts listed that day within the range you had set.
I've had it set at 50 miles for a couple of months now...... and still haven't found a silver D9 bonnet
I don't want to have to pay £30 delivery to subsequently find out that the bonnet is bashed and scratched to hell, the ebayer blames the courier and vice versa.

Re: eBay Section???????
The problem with the watch on ebay was the gumtree effect in that some people tended to list it as "Puegoet 460" etc.
Also, VW Boras getting sold as "NOT PEUGEOT 406, DTURBO, FERRARI FXX" etc.
But it would be useful, the alfa owners forum has a similar watch that posts to their for sale section.

Re: eBay Section???????
Could you not just post that in the "For Sale/Wanted" section?

You could ................................teamster1975 wrote:Could you not just post that in the "For Sale/Wanted" section?
....................but it might get a bit cluttered and detract from members adverts
If there was a seperate section, then this wouldn't happen
If you are worried about that getting cluttered, then i'd offer my services to moderate the section, and remove all threads once the eBay advert has expired

Aye i had that problem when i started looking for my 406 a fecking vw boring, 'of course its not a 406 its got square eyes for feck's sake and looks like no effort was put into designing it'.sirwiggum wrote:The problem with the watch on ebay was the gumtree effect in that some people tended to list it as "Puegoet 460" etc.

And auto trader has a problem, you specify low mileage, such as under 10k miles and you dont really get a much more refined search with 140 miles, and 220miles being common on old cars.

Re: eBay Section???????
One of the problems with AutoTraitor is that you enter in eg. <100k miles, and the numbnuts that advertised their twice-round-the-clock cars as 221 miles get shown.
Also, you sort by cost, say a Citroen C5 for <£2000, and the brand new / pre-registered "German shape" C5s that are advertised as £1 are shown

Four pet hates of mine on AutoTrader:
1) Advertising cars that are 120,000 miles as 120 miles
2) Advertising old R-reg cars (or older!) as 2008 models (or newer!)
3) Advertising cars without any photos
4) Having sold the car they originally listed, they then sell a new car by changing the photo on their listing, and changing the listing text - leaving the title of the listing showing the original car they sold (means they only need to pay for one listing, but I still find their second car when I'm searching for what they have already sold on)

Re: eBay Section???????
The ones that just book a car advert for weeks and it's sold and you phone up to ask about it and they're all annoyed cause it's sold and they "keep getting these bloody calls". WELL TAKE THE ADVERT OFF FFS
I do find though that the quality of car advertised on "pay for ad" sites like Auto Trader and Used Cars NI is generally greater than that of Gumtree, as is the quality of advert.
There are some gems on Gumtree, and I have bought and sold on it previously myself, but I would tend to avoid it (I didn't look at any cars on it when I was replacing the pug).

Re: eBay Section???????
Autotrader definatley does have better cars on it than gumtree, thats where my car come from last year, what i like about autotrader is you get the cars specs, the eg fuel economy, tax band, insurance group, power, torque, 0-60 (is it really 12.5 seconds), and all the equipment.
Gumtree on the other hand your told that its runnin 100 peurcnet, jsut needs and eggnie.
Ebay is good for some stuff as well, although you can get caught out, and there is no haggling.
