Is it possible to add ESP?
I have a 406 2.2HDi from 2001.
Someone knows if it is possible, and relatively cheap, to add ESP to the car?

Re: Is it possible to add ESP?
I dont think so, the com2000 needs a steering angle sensor for starters, and not many cars had that.
But i do think some of the 406s comes with EBD electronic brakeforce distribution, i seen it on the specs of some cars.
Traction control would be quite hard to add.

Mine is pre-com2000, and has EBD like all 406s I believe.FarmerPug wrote:I dont think so, the com2000 needs a steering angle sensor for starters, and not many cars had that.

I remember someone said the sensors were already present, as they were the same of the ABS, but mat well not be true.
Tomorrow i'll go to the local stealer for the timing belt change (or distribution belt, dunno how you call it), I'll ask him.

Re: Is it possible to add ESP?
Its an option on the pp2000 to activate the ESP, ive done that and it made no difference.
But the thing is, the 406 doesnt really need ESP, it handles all right as it is.

Re: Is it possible to add ESP?
I suppose you need some kind of BSI thinkering too, and some more sensors.FarmerPug wrote:Its an option on the pp2000 to activate the ESP, ive done that and it made no difference.

I never wanted ESP in a car, but a mont ago I crashed my mothers Clio because of some oil on the road... I'm sure ESP would have avoided that. The back of the started car drifting wildly, I under-drifted to keep it inside the road. When I got out of the oil the car suddenly regained friction and I crashed against the guardrail with the front

Ugh. Most of it seem to be cheap, but ecu, pump, sensors... Yep, I think I'll give up.steve_earwig wrote:You will need... Oooh, looks like the ecu goes under the passenger seat.

Yep, I pulled off everything that looked like it was for the early D9.

Re: Is it possible to add ESP?
more than 3 grand, it's crazy.
And most of the stuff are screws, bolts etc... but when the stealer charges you 10€ for every screw...

Re: Is it possible to add ESP?
I just looked to see how much it would be without all that stuff, we're talking a couple of pounds tops. Hold on, your revised total isOdinEidolon wrote:more than 3 grand, it's crazy.

3,433.82 GBP
It would make much more sense to sell your car and buy another with ESP already. Beware a failing com2000, one with ESP costs about £450

Well, I'll just give up, it's not my main concern... out of curiosity, what's making that so expensive?steve_earwig wrote:I just looked to see how much it would be without all that stuff, we're talking a couple of pounds tops. Re: Is it possible to add ESP?
A Peugeot dealer is another way of saying expensive
So the dealer wants lots of money also ESP wasn't fitted to many 406s so not many breakers will have the parts
