Here is a broken one on the right
They rotate through 45degrees then slide out sideways out the rail
One would be nice, but would be nice to have a spare

Still looking for a unbroken sunblind clip as above if anyone spots any in a scrappie

plod wrote:Also, when I bought the rear calipers from Omega, he damaged a slider getting them off, and gave me a third one for parts
Told this to the guy who was reconditioning them, that only needed 2 and that the third was for parts
Anyway, guess what turned up today

yes, three reconditioned calipers
New pistons, sliders, and seals
Only thing he didn't do was give them any kind of finish
Might pick up some smoothrite tomorrow and give them a paint
Not sure whether to just do them black, or give them some colour
There's also the rust on the centre of the discs, so if i'm buying some paint, then black might be best, but open to suggestions, gold maybe?
Well decided to just paint the calipers black
Was going to paint the discs as well, buy my mate up the motor factors said don't use smoothrite and expect to drive the car for next few days
As there is a slight warp to one of the discs, I decided to go the whole hog, and buy new discs and pads
Got to wait till tomorrow for the discs to turn up, but will, subject to weather, give the centre section a lick of paint
Was going to fit the new calipers this weekend, but might leave till weekend after so the paint is fully hardened

Afraid it's still on my to do list
I really wanted to get the wiper arms off to do the job
But, it's not the easiest of jobs to get them off
I tried once and got nowhere
I even looked up in the knowledge base, and the thread in there mentions 10 mins of on and off heating to get the arms off
I don't like the idea of doing any heating next to the windscreen
If the screen was knackered, i'd probably just go for it, then get the screen replaced
There is a couple of minor chips, but it's been like that since I got it

I had some spray paint to do the job, but half tempted if there is some spare smoothrite, just to give them a coat in that

Another £250ish on the chariot

Reconditioned brake calipers fitted to the rear
New brake discs - centres painted black so no rust to look at
New pads

and thanks to a new pad anti vibration kit, as one of them had snapped, no more annoying rattle at the back end

Had the spoiler repainted last week, and this week had it mopped

Also had a problem with the passenger window switch, and sorted that

The drivers armrest has had a tendency since two months after fitting the leathers off keep coming out
So got a flat bladed screwdriver and tried to bend the clip out a bit more to gain more purchase on the arm rest
Gave it a good wiggle, and didn't come out, so fingers crossed

Also noticed for some reason my airbag had come lose on one side, so nipped that up as well

Had to go the old's otherwise i'd of done a bit more to the car
MFD is out of it's mountings ready to have a play with that
Also want to get the centre console out to play with the seat wiring kit I had off Gary
I know Gary said there was 2 ECU's, as one was faulty, but didn't realise there was 2 wiring kits as well
Because of this I think i'm going to try and strip back the wiring on the second kit, to see if I can just take the heated seat part out of it
If this is possible, then there will be a full wiring kit available to someone
As Gary let me have it cheap, then it would be rude of me to ask too much myself, and thus might be able to help a fellow member out also

Did take a picture of the brakes as I came in a short while ago, but you can't see any detail as it's a bit dark with taking the pic on my phone

One other problem I have, is the side the vertical droplink was changed on, the tyre has worn on the inner edge
Is this the part people are on about with the bolt with the camber on, and needs to go back on in the same position otherwise causes issues??

Just realised my "To Do" list might become very empty if I can the next few jobs sorted

Wiper arms, I thinking of just masking up around the wipers and doing on the car to save a lot of grief, and plan on having that done in next couple of weeks now the weather is getting better

Boot Badge - Got a colour coded one on the way from our new member Nivek - heard the postie this morning, darted up, but no joy - Kev did say early next week, but you can hope

Got the MFD out ready to have a play with trying to sort the wiring - would like to get the second plug out of a breaker, and as much wiring as I can get, but no good scrap yards local to me anymore :( but not going to let that defeat me

Well, wiring is stripped back, and have seperated the heated seat section away from the second loom
Somehow thought the wiring would of been a bit thicker but evidently not, but i'm no electrician
Going to extend the earth wires as they are very short
There is 2 orange wires which will be for the live feed
There are 2 other less substantial orange wires which i'll assume are for illumination of the switches - Was it right that I just take a feed from the cigarettle lighter for this?

One more chalked off the "TO DO" list

Used the Sealey H/Duty Wiper Arm removal tool I bought on ebay the other day
Was very easy to do the passenger side
Bit "Snug" on the drivers side - think it would of benefited from a bolt head on it as opposed to the little "T" bar fitted
Probably not a problem when access is available, but on the 406....well...........

But overall, made the job relatively easy
passenger side 30secs if that including adjusting to fit
drivers side - 3 or 4 mins due too fat fingers
Still beats the guide I read regarding heating the threads on and off for 10mins me thinks

Spent a while sanding back the existing paint, and the little rust scabs - time will tell if they come back - hopefully not

Anyway, no pics, as paint still drying, and probably won't refit till the morning
No colour coding like Gary, just primered them up with a couple of coats, then couple of coats of Satin Black

blue.........Blue........BLUE

them paint fumes got to you

Well, I bet you can find your paint in motor factors etc, but Sherwood Green, not a bloody chance

To be honest, I wasn't bothered about altering their asthetic qualities
Just bloody fed up of looking through the screen at scabby arms
