Spare key doesnt work

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

my spare keys remote locking doesnt work as well. but it does open the car manually and starts it no problem.

have you tried a new battery in it and re programing it ?

also does the button make a click sound ? sometimes the micro switch on the tiny circuit board inside breaks ,

No. But PP2000 can get the car to 'learn' the key codes again, (even when the reprogramming sequence in the handbook won't work), but you need the 4-digit PIN code from the security card that should come with the car.

Frank - your spare has probably just been operated too many times out of range of the car and so lost 'synch' - should be able to reprogram as handbook.

the key has sat doing nothing, when i put it into the ignition it doesnt deimmobilise the car either.

It's possible your key is faulty, but have you tried re-synching it?

You can get the code from Pug for about £25, or:

join http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/
search for a post called Peugeot VIN to PIN, (or similar)
post your VIN and someone'll reply with the PIN - got mine within 24 hours. 8)

How can you be sure the Code is correct?

Because risking to program an invalid CODE would be a pain in the arss.. basically i wouldn't be able to put the car starting again ...just basically .. :?

Why would peugeot want £25 just to look in a book for 4 numbers

Well, it got my remote central locking etc. working again when every other approach failed.

I imagine they've got access to Pug's system, or have a keygen program that comes up with the same answer.
