Spare key doesnt work

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

How can you be sure the Code is correct?

Because risking to program an invalid CODE would be a pain in the arss.. basically i wouldn't be able to put the car starting again ...just basically .. :?[/quote]

Well ive just programmed with pp2k, a new key for our 206 ( and my 406) as we only had one for each, got the codes incl 406 from a guy on 206 owner club,as i didnt have the four digit passcode cards. He needed the vins which i gave him but i was one digit wrong on the 206 and got the wrong code. However when using pp2000 to code keys, the wrong code didnt allow me to go further.no damage done.
both cars now have new blippers 23 quid ea all in -bought the chips/new fobs from ebay and two blades cut in timpsons :)
you can program up to five keys for each car on pp2000 - well the 206 anyway ,cant remember how many on 406.
very very easy to do using pp2k

im not sure, ill use dogslife's link, just seems to be a bit safer. I dont want to lock the car out.
Is this option on the PP2000 to sort out the key.

I'm sure wasp's right - if you haven't got the right PIN, it won't let you try.

Reasonably sure PP2000 can restore a locked ecu, but unless you've got one to try......

ithink if a wrong code was used on a key
the car wouid just asume the wrong key wouid be inserted,

My locksmith just sticks keys in a machine the orginal key and a number comes up
the number-code is just added to the cloned key,
ive never had anyproblems with key codes

but theres always a chance of something going wrong,
iwill always use the lock smith for this reason and he only charges £35 anyway so its no biggie 8)

We may be talking about different things - the transponder chip has a static code, but the r/c plip generates a different one every operation. It's the 'seed' to this sequence that the BSI can be made to 'learn', if normal re-synching fails.

whist
the spare key is a flip key that retrofit, the immobilizer chip when i opened it up came loose and was out of the range of the immobilizer antenna.
the key starts the car again, the central locking isnt working the battery is flat in that key.

Moral of the story, them flip key replacements are shite, keep the original sort.

you mean the circular peugeot logo button
the multiplex d9 key is different but i recall on the older car unlock is in the peugeot lion, and that key also had the same problem.
The lion logo bit just press fits in there, really easy, and it must be common because there is tonnes on ebay.
