changing discs and pads

hi i have a 2000 1.8 petrol estate and was just wondering if you need any special tools and how difficult is it to change the front discs and pads . also wheres the best buy for replacements , second issue i have a blowing exhaust so the car sounds like a ferrari at the mo lol ,any suggestions on replacement or should i just take it to a tyre and exhaust place im looking for something cheap and quick on the exhaust

disc and pad changes are very easy.

euro car parts online = free delivery to your front door

NO special tools needed just a decent socket set . a T55 torx bit to get capiler bolts off.

because if you near me i have a exhaust that might fit that you can have and id lend you my trade card for halfords.

Keen to do my own discs and pads but could not manage to shift a bolt. So in the end the garage did it. I shopped around
for the parts and made a good saving there. (Sadly no Halfords trade card!). They were cheaper than the parts provided by the garage so I just paid the labour.
Maybe garages make some profit on the parts - i.e. the price on the invoice is not what they paid. If you go this route just make
sure that the part is correct and also check the brand. I got Motaquip and the total for front disks and pads plus VAT came to £67.

you need a good socket set to change the discs and pads.

a 1/2 inch drive ratchet is definately needed and in some cases a breaker bar.
also you need a T55 torx bit in the end of a 1/2inch drive socket

or you will not get the caliper bolt off. with the right socket set and T55 torx bit , changing the discs and pads is so so easy.

As a pug owner, owning a set of torx bits should be mandatory

i agree. especially a set of torx on a 1/2 inch drive socket for a 1/2 inch drive ratchet.
