hi i have a 2000 1.8 petrol estate and was just wondering if you need any special tools and how difficult is it to change the front discs and pads . also wheres the best buy for replacements , second issue i have a blowing exhaust so the car sounds like a ferrari at the mo lol ,any suggestions on replacement or should i just take it to a tyre and exhaust place im looking for something cheap and quick on the exhaust

Keen to do my own discs and pads but could not manage to shift a bolt. So in the end the garage did it. I shopped around
for the parts and made a good saving there. (Sadly no Halfords trade card!). They were cheaper than the parts provided by the garage so I just paid the labour.
Maybe garages make some profit on the parts - i.e. the price on the invoice is not what they paid. If you go this route just make
sure that the part is correct and also check the brand. I got Motaquip and the total for front disks and pads plus VAT came to £67.
