Re: KWP2000 remap stuff on eBay
How cautious can i be though, theres the cautious as in just use it to try it once, or the cautious as in dont blow £30 on something that wont work?
Re: KWP2000 remap stuff on eBay
There's cautious as in don't risk turning your car's ECU into a housebrick if you are utterly dependent on being able to drive it and can't afford to repair/replace it.FarmerPug wrote:How cautious can i be though, theres the cautious as in just use it to try it once, or the cautious as in dont blow £30 on something that wont work?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Sorry for the bump of an old-ish topic but just for reference I wonder if you could help me - What MPG were you getting Pre-map and after the map? I'd love to hear from both Jack and Puggy to compare the 110s and Doggy for the 2.2 to help me pick my next diesel 406!

Todd, near as I can tell the map either makes no difference to mpg, or improves it a tiny bit, (say 1-2 mpg).ToddM wrote:Sorry for the bump of an old-ish topic but just for reference I wonder if you could help me - What MPG were you getting Pre-map and after the map? My overall mpg figure is 43/44 summer and 41/42 winter. It's not the most economical of 406's, but it is fairly quick. HTH

Wow, that was a speedy reply, thanks a lot! Just asking as it'll be used mostly by my dad and he'd prefer something economical I guess.. So tempted to make him get a car he'll pay most of the things for and I'll use occasionally now then take it totally off him next year when my insurance for 5k+ miles won't cost 2.5k. (yes, I am 17
)

@dogslife,
Would love a copy of your de-fap'd files (specifically the standard 2.2 136) if you can send them to me. (Would PM but as a new user it won't let me yet, you should be able to contact me by email though my profile)
Thanks Ben

Hi Ben & welcome to the forum.
If you are looking for a standard power output, 'de-FAP' file, the safest option is to get the existing map converted. I can do this for you, but you need to send me the existing one to convert.
(PM sent).

Re: KWP2000 remap stuff on eBay
i ya nutski will this remap work on a 307 dturbo 110 break after all they are the same engines thanx jimnutski wrote:Ok, read my ECU last night and here http://www.pug406.com/HDi110Remap.rar is my map file, its from a Y reg HDi 110 which is mapped to 136bhp, if anyone wants to try this feel free but i take no responsibility for any issues caused by meddling with ECUs or this file!!!
I read it twice to be sure and did a comparison to make sure they were identical byte for byte incase of a bad read, came back fine.
Have been able to import it into WinOls and also load it into ECUSafe, neither of which complained about the files.
If you are going to try this make sure you back up your own ECU first, at least twice, and file compare them to make sure its ok.
As i said, i'f you car goes like a rocket afterwards like mine, good! If not, don't come running to me! I'll be trying the same thing myself tomorrow when i get my new car, it is fair to say the toilet paper will be on standby as i'm sure spare underpants will be too.........
Re: KWP2000 remap stuff on eBay
i have a 307 d.turbo 110 bhp the 406 as the same engine and ecu would the 406 remap work on it

Re: KWP2000 remap stuff on eBay
Since i bought recently a galletto 1260, it's still on it's way here.
I wanted to try the nutski remap file, but i really have a bit afraid of what can happen. Nutski can you post what hw version and software version was your ecu? Is it a single plug ECU or three plug ecu ?
I also read the entire thread and found that interesting site with tested files, the only con is that we don't know how much bhp and torque is in the file. Is there anyway we can know when we have them ?
People with 110's could post there or by pm their remap files if they have the galletto or kwp.

I have one for 2002 but I am not using it as it has TOO much power and ate my clutch... And it smoked like a b... on hard acceleration.

Re: KWP2000 remap stuff on eBay
FWIW guys, there is almost no chance that a file for a 307 will work on a 406, or vice-versa as the engine ecu links to lots of your cars systems, not just the power unit.
If anyone wants a de-fapped copy of their original file, I can do that, just PM me.
406 110 HDi's don't have particle filters, (least not any we've come across so far).
