Cruise or not ? UPDATED NEWS, CRUISE FITTED! YEAAAHHH

Post by RayneR »

HI all ! well yesterday i got around a bit of the peugeot planet to find if i had cruise control to activate .. well i am a bit of doubt .. but please help me a bit.

i have this CD that have some things about the peugeot 206 and peugeot 406 D8 and 406 D9, i have this one little page that i took out from the CD which can clarify things for some and help me a bit ...

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L2R06Y14

please download this rar and extract it, it has a htm file which is one page that came out from the CD ( the cd is all based in htm files  , peugeot just couldn't done a good info CD you know ... )

I have this :

and this on peugeot planet :

I came across with this line in the htm file that i give to you but mine in PT and it says this :

(50) calculador CVA (conforme equipamento - 4HP20 ou AL4)

in the english version says :

(50) automatic gearbox ECU (according to specification - 4HP20 or AL4)

Welll , what is this " 4HP20 " or " AL4 " ?

CVA those this stands for " Controlo de Viatura Automatico " or " Controlo de Velocidade Automatico " ? i'll translate to english " Control Vehicle Automatic " or " Control Velocity Automatic " <- not that this is in correct english ( Automatic Vehicle Control maybe this ? or Automatic Velocity Control )

Well, sorry for the pics being in Portuguese ...

thank you by the way.

Edit : i think this has nothing to do with cruise right ? only with if the car has or not an Automatic gearbox i supose ..

I cannot tell if your car can have cruise control enabled - it was not possible with early HDi 110's, but could be done by late 2000.

If you can display the same pages from PP2000 in English, we may be able to help more.

thank you for your answer, well that's gonna be a bit difficult ..but what i can say is that the bsi version is dated x/x/1999 and it's a SIEMENS one ( saw this in a menu somewhere in there, i think basically is the first version ), Well my mechanic says that the cruise control is controlled by the ECU it self .. , BSI can't be updated right ? what about the ECU? Can this be updated? , so i'm out of luck ?

I *think* that on pre-com2000 D9s the system is the same old one they used in D8s, with everything separate (ecu, switches, vacuum pump, actuator etc.), so it has nothing to do with the BSI and, I guess, takes speed readings from the engine ecu. Somehow

wasp retro-fitted cruise to an early 110 HDi as an unexpected bonus of fitting the engine ecu, bsi, transponder & locks from a later, (but still pre-Com2000) car. (IIRC).

Well, i think that this is the case, because there is the cable for it .. if it was a BSI thing it would be there to change from present to non present , where in the car can i look for that vacuum pump and actuator and Ecu ? Has far as i " think " if there was cruise in this time ( if it didn't there was no button for it, right ? ) , and then if in BSI there is no option ( as far as i could see and search ) to enable it , then other things does it ? right ?

well that's the easy ( or not ) method for doing it .. because it is not cheap ..

in that long caracteristics i found this :

HDi's with cruise control don't use a throttle actuator / extra cable, or additional ecu - the cruise function is a standard option of the Bosch EDC15 engine control ecu - all it has to do is hold the same engine RPM and ignore the TPS, (throttle position sensor), unless TPS signal is > current torque output.

my HDi is a BOSH EDC15C2 , in autodata in the eletric diagrams, shows there in the ECU that in deed have this function .. well i guess peugeot wouldn't do the cables looming if it was not an option, like the leather and heated seats and the side airbads, the cables are there and they can be installed .. ( so they could just put the hardware in, like the button and stalk, and then plug and play, ) ... saw somewhere here in the forum that someone with a D9 without the wiring for the button :?

Btw does it show anything on the MFD when we turn ON or OFF or change the speed parameter ?

another problem of the scrapyard is that is very difficult to find these cars .. and the prices practice in there is not the same as here ...

No, there is no visual indication for cruise control functions on my 2002 car, but the earlier design has an on/off switch on the dashboard, which might be illuminated when on?

Has you can see from the pictures, there is the cable loom/socket for that switch ON/OFF ...i just need to remove the socket from the square plastic .. it's holding into it I guess but the plastic has some sort of metallic shape inside of it... interesting things happens :cheesy:

Re: Cruise or not ?

Well i have fresh and a little sad news ..

Today i received the Button and the stalk.. and i have attached the 2 of them ( one thing the stalk and the button were from a 406 coupe ), Well, it didn't work .. or i'm not doing it right, aparently the button gets the light on and when i turn on the headlights minimums and all, but when i push the stalk, nothing happens ..   , Why there is all the cables if it wasnt an option ? Does the Cruise Shows any Info in the MFD when it's ON ? i think i have question this already, but hell, even my brother asked me if nothing shows up on the display when i turn it on, and he really doesn't understand must about this stuff..

PICS:

Image

Image

Please, some help here , Maybe i'm not doing the procedure correctly, the stalk has 3 positions, 2 are like the radio Volume +/- and one single move that is the " O (arrow down) "

EDIT:

What's this ?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peugeot-307-406-2 ... 0622420634?

Do i have it on my car ? where is it located on the car ?

EDIT 2 :

I do have this on my car, i have checked also, with the help of the autodata, that i have the relay and the fuse on the fusebox on the motor compartment.

Pic of the actuator:

Image

Image

So, maybe the actuator is fault ? when i mess with it a bit i ear a sound like a spring bouncing ...

Help guys, only one thing i can't check right now is one thing that is beyond the glove box (well front what autodata says, that there is that thing on the glove box or let's say beyond it), that is Cruise control module, maybe this is what is missing, i don't even know what is it, what looks like ...

Suggestions is appreciated.

It looks to me that you have got the switches that you need, but you haven't said if there is a switch on the clutch pedal.
If the cruise control is working then it will operate while you are driving in 4/5 gears and above about 30 kph.
The switch by your knee needs to be lit, the plus/minus will set the speed, and change the speed once set and if you pull the stalk toward you it will 'kill' the cruise setting.
You may need to adjust the switches on the pedals, if they are not set in the correct position then cruise will not engage. Make sure that the switches are right down touching the pedals.
If you put you toe under the pedals and lift them it can move the switches and stop the cruise working.

Hi, thank you very much for your reply, i have 2 switch's on the break pedal, one red and one white with 2 wires on each.

I didn't check that if the 2 switch's are touching the pedal, i'll have to check that out...

By the way, do you know whats for that 2 sockets ? ( the blue and yellow one)

My guess is that, that 2 colored things gets out of there and 2 relays attach in there .. but what's their function ? Maybe for the heated seats ? or for the cruise ?

The cruise button or stalk needs any kind of relay ?

So much questions... thank you so much for everything by now...
