Egr valve problem,

Post by lozz »

Anyone got any ideas on how the Egr valve works on the 110s,
Are they supposed to be open slightly when the car is running at tick over?
im getting a slight hiss from the valve too, the metal part -not the solenoid,

theres no loss in power but ican hear this critter hiss from inside the car now and then,
this problem as only started since ihad it re-mapped,
also the top air pipe for the intercooler sucks inwards when you rev the car not much just a few Mms
like its not getting enough air, Air filter is clean , :?

the blanking plate isnt the hardest thing in the world to remove. I thought they were good for the turbos, the performance isnt really that different though.

Yup he might be chatting crap, he seems to like throwing turbos away , new ones are over a grand he must think people have got deep pockets,

but still iwill leave my egr on his theory on this helping it vent the turbo may be correct

It cycles open / shut many times a second, but generally only when you're not touching the throttle.

If you want to test what it's like blanked off, disconnect & plug the vacuum pipe at the solenoid valve - this disables it without triggering a fault, (unlike disconnecting the solenoid valve). So long as the egr isn't letting by this does the same as blanking it off.

I was tempted to blank mine off, but with remap, V6 zorst, and decat, I was particularly interested in gaining more power

Anyway, I thought it would, but wanted to play safe with it passing the mot with the way it is
