MOT Yesterday

Post by gumby6371 »

Well she got tested yesterday morning and unsurprisingly she failed, it was completely expected as the new handbrake cable is still in the boot and my mate at the local tyre place was off sick so both back tyres look more like racing slicks.
I was working on the see what else they fail it on and fix it all at once principal.

When the guy rang me he was quite surprised when I asked what she'd failed on before he'd actually delivered the bad news :D

HOWEVER.....he went on to list both failure points;
Bulb out on main beam (which I hadn't spotted)
O/S/R brake binding (which I also hadn't noticed)

Hand brake passed fine!!! I've been parking against the kerb for the passed 6 months it's so bad and the offending cable is on the near side not the side that was binding!!!
Tyres - advisory - near the legal limit.....more like Kojak's head (younger members may wish to google Kojak for the analogy :cheesy: ) and lethal in the wet!!!

I'll get her on the stands at the weekend and give both drums a good clean while I do the cable and pop a new bulb in, but I'm just amazed that's all it failed on, any other members had similar experiences???

Well, my bro's 1.9 TD estate passed it's 2nd MOT in his stewardship, again without even an advisory. Mind you he did invest heavily at the outset and continues to do so - cost him £800 with a year's tax + MOT & as it runs on WVO, it hasn't seen a filling station since last year.

He says he may even consider washing it either this year, or next.

My handbrake was that bad it required the Full family to pull the lever up from the back seat to get it to work,

it still passed, :D
the Mot Tester seemed more botherd about things he couid Fail it on that wouid Make him some £s,
He failed it on the lights and bulbs they where all working fine before it took it in for the test!
He said il fix the lights for £60 he had obviously replaced the good bulbs with blown ones :evil:

oh and the Top links it may as well never had any on they where Fubard but it still passed,
its hit and miss with mots now something we may see as a Fail is a pass :?
