Windy Weather

Post by FarmerPug »

Its very blowy outside today.
There has been a lot of closed roads, and trees lying on the roads, and a neighbours car was hit by a tree breaking the rear light.
Anyone ever had any serious damage by falling trees, or wind related damage?

30 degrees and sunny here, thank god for that aircon in the C5, icy cold...brrrrrrrrrrrr

I had a tree branch fall on an Audi coupe back in 2000 i think, it took out the rear screen and put a little crease in the roof, a visit to the scrappys along with a little applied pressure from inside and all was well, i didnt want to use the insurance as i had spent quite a bit getting her sorted and they would have probably written her off.

lesson learnt, i never park under big trees when the weather is blowy now

I live in a city, because of study, where 100mph winds are common. So yes, I've seen that and worse.

My biggest worry these days is hail (particularly since the idiot that delivered the last lot of wood decided to dump it so I can't get the car in the shed  )

Hopefully it doesn't last.

Was hoping to fly off somewhere sunny in a few weeks!

does the cloud actually do any harm i though scientists proved it was all twaddle.
newspapers blowing round in the wind seem to be the worst thing, if they hit a wet windscreen they are stuck.

I would of thought in the day and age of the "blame culture" sometimes they got to play safe
Airlines now have the choice up to a certain level of ash, whereas last year they just closed the airspace

Does remind me of something though

Years back when I owned an XR4x4 (2800cc) my mate asked if he could borrow to pick his misses up from work
I said yes
Anyway he was gone for about 4 hours
Turned up and said he drove past a field and the farmer was muck spreading
He said it went all over the car, so said he couldn't bring the car back like it, so had spent the time cleaning it

Can't make my mind up what's worse: The bullshit that was "supposedly" on my car, or what was coming out of his mouth  - I think he just gave it a bloody good thrashing for a few hours - at only 20 to the gallon, it must of cost him to do it - unfortunately I never noted the mileage before he took it

hate driving in wind , in 2005 the truck i was driving got blown over on the M74, not a nice feeling as you can see the crash barrier coming towards you on the passenger side but in slowmotion, good job i was wearing my seat belt
