Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Diagnostics

Post by Hangar18 »

I have a 96 p.reg executive xu10j2te 8v 2 litre Turbo, had it since Thursday last week and the whole time the engine management light keeps signalling intermittently, its causing the Turbo not to spool and for obvious reasons I'd like to fix this to justify the wild insurance costs and shocking fuel consumption.

anyone that knows the early 406s- they will know its a proprietary diagnostics port and protocol, I don't really have £100 to throw away and the expertise to operate it- does anybody in Oxford area have this setup or know someone nearby with this setup?
Please let me know ASAP! :-) thanks in advance!

Hello Hanger18,

Did you manage to get your engine management light problem sorted?

I'm nowhere near Oxford, in fact i'm in the East Midlands, but if ever you get followed on the M1 with a fuel tanker, i have access to the clone device and software to try and speak to it

However, with the present cost of fuel your journey there and back might cover the cost of a unit anyway :frown:

Basically- I've been looking deep into the inner workings of the XU10J2TE...
I managed to acquire a training manual for peugeot mid/early nineties and a schematics workshop manual (don't ask how... )
I need to set aside a day- for point to pointing the electric harness with a friend- just waiting on an extension cable for the multimeter at the moment and a day we both have off in common (most importantly!)

I will write up any significant findings- hopefully I will be able to get the ECU talking to a diagnostics machine- my failed attempt was rather irritating to say the least!! ECU didn't want to know the Diag.!

It's funny , my ECU responds to standard diagnostic machines ... but with clone LEXIA interfaces doesn't ...
