Re: which 406 ?
The coupes are still stunning.
If the Honda ever dies (not any time soon by the feel of it), I might look out for one... Future classic

the coupe is great looking there is no doubt of that, but imagine if peugeot had actually went and made it back wheel drive that would have been a great car.

Re: which 406 ?
I know of someone who had a Honda and one day thought "Hmm, I wonder if the ABS works on this thing?".....£1,200.00 and a new ABS module later and it was all fixed
The ABS on my Integra spend all its time with the Fuse removed cos it was playing up and over-pumping.

i know hondas cdtditdidtdi engine isnt as bulletproof as the vtec engines, my uncle has an accord with it, consumes oil quite a bit and as a car has needed a few bits, 50k and the key barrel broke, and the instrument cluster one day refused to work.
Although he does seem happy with the car and the service of the dealers.

Vtec supposedly not as bad, just drinks the fuel though!

Re: which 406 ?
and that can be cured with an lpg conversion (it will still drink it but your wallet wont hurt as bad)
also on the topic of diesel engines from traditionally petrol companies, i was in a lexus is220d yesterday at an auction yard, absolutley beautiful car, best interior and seats i had seen bar a jag xf. But i heard a mechanic friend of my dad say they are a bad engine, is this true, i thought they were at the top of reliability surveys all the time.

Re: which 406 ?
Are they not just versions of Toyota D4D diesel?
Seems to be a popular engine in HiLuxes, Aurises, Avensises etc.
Its only now though that the Japanese manufacturers are getting into diesel.
Toyota in the mid-late 90s didn't have one, so they put the XUD in the Corolla.

Re: which 406 ?
yup the japanese might have been great in the 70's and 80's with their petrols and words like twin cam. But they havent really had the success with diesel, the european companies are doing better at that.
The D4D 2.0 engine is said to be good, apparently the 2.2 isnt, although this was just what a mechanic said, sometimes they call a car terrible if it needs a DMF to SMF conversion. I dont listen to mechanics opinions on car, if i like the shape of it, feck it if its unreliable it looks good and i still want it (eg alfa 159).

there is another site for cars in the ROI, this car according to the seller is a bargain because of its high mileage of -, but it does have the very rare rotary heating controls if you dislike the climate control.

You know you want to!
Coupe looks + V6 engine noise + no DMFs/FAPs/EGRs/weak engine mounts to worry about!

Re: which 406 ?
the fuel bill would be lower if you got one on lpg, provided its about 60p over there as it is here.
HDIs are hard to beat, you get the fuel economy and that fantastic diesel purr.
