2.0 hdi fuel filter housing - part number advice needed...

This probably serves me right for being a clever bugger but, having read the horror stories surrounding the Hdi fuel filter element changes in situ, and that fact that a number of people recommend changing the entire housing assembly, i bit the bullet and got one from my local stealers, thinking being, i can swap the new assembly for the old, retain the old assembly, strip it and clean it on the workbench, install an new OE element, then box it up for the next service.... then repeat as neccessary. make sense???

Anyway, the stealer gave me part number 190169 telling me its the right one. It is indeed the right one, but not for my 110 hdi engine - it looks more like the one i broke on my last 306 hdi meridian... ie, no electrical connector on the top and a slide in fitting, whereas the one on my 406 looks like its held in with 2 x retaining bolts.

Does anyone have the correct part number for the complete housing, so i can get the dealer to obtain the right item for once??

I had a quick look on Service Pox and the first two DW10ATED came back 190169, then it broke... (won't load, won't nothing ) Can you not drag your car along to the dealer's?

If not, post or pm me your chassis number and I'll give it a try later.

I've only seen two types of filter housing, the one in this picture (on my HDi90) http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/uu10 ... 406001.jpg, has a large plastic screw top.This type is held on to the block by 2 x 10mm headed bolts.

The other type has a nut in the middle of the the lid, which you turn 90 degrees to undo to get at the filter.I've only seen this type on the 110, of course they may have the other type fitted.

I'm wondering if it's more an age thing.
Mine's the same as Jasper's, but my previous '99 HDi 90 Cistern had the one with the big plastic hexagon in the middle of the lid.

I'm new to this forum. Hope I can help - part number is 1901.65 for the housing that is shown in photo in Jasper5's post. It comes complete with the element fitted and costs about £50 if I remember correctly. Peugot dealer can usually get the right one from the registration number. Also worth checking price at Citroen as they use a lot of the same parts.

The one in your pic is the same as mine, so it looks like mine has a different housing maybe to other 110's???

Either way, the stealer is gonna get me one in for wed morning, so i'll report back if successful.

Hi Panda, yes, the housing, complete with the filter is about £50.

It isn't such a big deal to change the filter in my type of housing, just get some pipe grips and undo the big plastic nut, taking care of course, to not break off the plastic pipes (they are very brittle).The seal fits inside the top of the housing.The filter on my type has a small, about 12mm, diameter hole in it, the other type has a 24mm diameter hole in it and has a seal at the bottom.

The housing can be removed and held, gently, in a vice to undo the plastic ring.

The one with the hexagon (nut) on top, can be easily removed by undoing it 90 degrees and lifting it off, might be easier to take the pipes off, watch for a metal ring just inside the housing with the seal.To take the pipes off, just press in the coloured wedges in the side of the pipe and pull the pipe off (gently).

Just to conclude this post, Panda was spot on, Part number 190165 was the one i needed, Apparently the 2001 model year was a change over between these different types of fuel filters, hence the stealers choose the most popular one!

Went to collect it this morning, £56.92 + vat, including the element inside it.

just gotta fit the thing now!

Ebay cheapest is £64.25

Found another thread on here linking to AEPDirect.com but a search on there came back with no results

If anyone knows of somewhere doing them for a decent price, i'd appreciate it guys
