EGR Cleaner

Post by Busman »

Just used a tin of Wynn's Exhaust Gas Recirculation 3 (Proffesional Formula) on my HDI 110, and wow, what a difference. I have used this before, but its been about 18 or more months since the last go.
It cost £6.80 inc vat from my local (C&D) motor factor. The mighty pug was suffering from a bit of pinking like symptoms and excessive smoke, both of which have now gone. I did put in some Asda purchased Redex injector cleaner after a test drive to help my high mileage fuel system. (228,000miles and counting)
There are a lot of so called mirical products on the market that I wouldn't touch. This one does what it says though.
To use it, I took the top off the air filter, and squirted it in at about 10 second bursts. The engine coughs a bit as it goes through, and you rev it a bit between each go. It takes about 8 ten second bursts to empty the can.
Its on ebay for about £12 delivered.  Who said the net was cheaper.

so you must have the car running when you are doing it ?

Its a spray or what is it ? It does the appropriate bursts, then we need to rev up a bit after each burst ?

They sell it in Ita too, but it's more expensive.
They usually put instructions in the ebay auction here.

well, what i meant was selling it locally not internet ... i know that from ebay they sell it which i meant before 13.99 £ posted, but they could do some export, they would have big sales if it's really good ...

Used this today , Excellent results !!! When booting my motah i have
always had huge cloud of black smoke which tended to clear in 5th when
getting up to the 80/90 mark , put a lot of this down to extra fuelling due to
remap . After using wynns today this is no longer the case , just get what i would
consider a normal diesel puff of black smoke also ticks over more smoothly responds
slightly quicker to pressure on pedal and if in 5th i can let it slow down to 1000rpm
and it will pull away again with only the slightest judder :)

As I said, it's good stuff, and quite cheap to. Now the only question is how often should one use it? I think last time i left it about 18 months or 30,000miles between doses which is too long on my 110. Perhaps a can with each fuel filter?
And the instructions are inside the can label. You peel back a corner and it opens up and there they are. In several languages to.
But it is very simple to use. Get the engine to full operating temp. Take the top off the air filter, Let the engine tick over and squirt it straight up the air intake in about 5 second bursts. You rev the engine to about 2000 rpm between each squirt. Keep going till the can is empty. Then take your newly purring motor for a drive and marvel at the results.

Yes, its an airosol spray, and you rev it between each squirt.

No, not a chain, just my friendly local independent motor factor, owned by a lovely chap called Dave.
Perhaps if I Mention it some more, I might get a bigger discount? :cheesy:

Mmmm, if the problem I developed tonight with the ABS is just something silly and is cheap to rectify, I'm tempted to invest in some of this stuff
Shame I didn't do it whilst I was changing the air filter, but what the hell

Asked in the local motor factors, and apparently there is only a couple of products of Wynn's they don't sell, and what you know, this is one of them
