i dont like most of the stuff played or emitted on radio 1. Some songs that really irritate me is the repetitive ones such as the umbrella, some man requiring a dollar, and the one where a gentleman makes numerous requests for me to put my hands up for detroit.

I think since the pirate stations went fm radio is shite, theres some good internet stations that play 80s music all the time, dont have presenters that love their own voice, and you simply pay with a few minuites of adverts now and again. Shame cars havent got internet radio.

So totally agreed! Do you get Smooth radio up in Scotland? That's more than half-decent if you're into motown etc.

I'm in Scotland, but I don't know about Smooth FM. Around Aberdeen we get Original FM, where they play very few modern chart songs, but plenty of older 80s and 90s hits. Northsound also plays some older stuff, but they mostly play modern stuff.

I like listening to Radio 1 (in particular Chris Moyles and Scott Mills), but am generally not too keen on the music on the Radio 1 playlist. Way too much rap/hip-hop/dance music. I don't mind some of the artists that appear - Biffy Clyro, Friendly Fires, Snow Patrol, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Adele, etc.

If I don't like what's on, I just start some MP3s playing.

Q101.2 - Too much sport results and advertisments for home heating oil
Six Fm - I cant actually hear it, just get the RDS to display the name
Classic FM - great signal but they play classical music.

Radio Ulster is okay steven can give you road rage though and the talk shows are a bit too dull, i only tune into gerry anderson thats a great laugh.
Radio 2 is quite good some fairly decent music on it, but a lot of repeated stuff.

About 8 years ago i remember Galaxy, FROG, and the best one Magic 105.1, the pirate stations were great to listen to, i cant actually see what harm they were doing.

Nolans show makes you angry, I feel that certain TV shows make me feel a bit 'dumbed-down'.

The gov. wants it for the same reason they've left the whole situation to fester, that dividing and dumbing-down makes a population easier to control and less likely to rebel.
