HimBigChief's 406 Breaking - Definately this time!

Post by HimBigChief »

With the whole saga of the immobiliser, and the fact that I'm now an Audi driver, I'm going to break my 406 pictured below. :( The car is pretty much mint, save for a few marks here and there, I will mention these when selling. I also have a few other spares and bits and pieces which I have collected over the couple of years of 406 ownership which I am thinking of selling. I have put a list below of bits and pieces, although there will be more and anything anyone wants they can ask for. All prices are negotiable and plus P&P or collection of course. All bits will be located in rural Northumberland, NE48 if you fancy a nice country drive.

Engine is back together and turning over nicely but not starting up due to the immobiliser issue hence I can't guarantee the engine after my rebuild. All other engine bits and pieces in good working order as appears to be the top end.

Interior:
Full Executive electric heated memory black leather interior - very good condition but not too sure whether the heating elements work, this is the earlier smooth leather panel type which personally I think looks better than the later ribbed versions - £120
Cossack grey dash trim - £20
406 coupe glovebox trim - £5
Renault Laguna auto dimming rear view mirror modified roughly to fit the 406, can't really notice when fitted- £20
D9 airvents - £5
D9 black leather doorcards - £40 but top rear of drivers door card is a bit split. Don't really notice though. Will get pics when I get the car back here
D9 handbrake button - £5
Lit vanity mirrors/sunvisors - £20
Executive rear parcel shelf with sunblind and storage box, good condition - £30
Leather steering wheel with airbag, bit of wear, but nothing excessive, got 2 of these, one with chrome lion, one with black lion logo on airbag - £20 each
All lower panels in black, including glovebox, this lot were a nightmare to source! - £40
Speedo control box, fits behind glovebox for ML5T boxed cars - £20
All other interior bits and pieces will also be available, just ask

Exterior: - All body panels in Cossack Grey
Renault Laguna front splitter - £15
Front grill with black Peugeot badge - £10
Genuine Peugeot headlight protectors - £15
Genuine Peugeot foglight protectors - £10
Wind deflectors on front windows - £10
D9/Late D8 wing mirrors, electric, heated and memory - £30
Black Mask Headlights, no bulbs (bottom mount snapped off each one but araldited back on and I never had any trouble with them) - £30
Custom badgeless front grill and bumper, needs respraying - £100
Clear rear tail-lights, no bulbs - £20
Crystal taillights, no bulbs, couple of small cracks but barely noticeable - £20
Standard Executive front bumper complete with washer covers, no foglights - £40
Towbar, not sure whether the electrics work as I've never used them - £40
All other exterior bits and pieces will also be available, just ask

Chassis:
17" ACE 112 alloys - Probably going to keep these but will entertain £offers
Used Koni shocks and brand new GMax springs - £150
Used OMP springs and standard used front and rear shocks - £100 (lowers a 2.1TD as in the pic above)
406 coupe strut brace - £20
Brand new rear droplinks - £10
All other suspension bits and pieces will also be available, just ask

Brakes:
Nearly new EBC Greenstuff brake pads, barely bedded in as done about 2k tops - £40 for front and rear pads
Nearly new discs, rusted over from standing but should clean up. Front and rear again done 2k max - £free to collector
Calipers painted black - £20 each
All other braking bits and pieces will also be available, just ask

Engine:
Twin exit stainless exhaust system - £50
K&N replacement element airfilter - £25
12 month old radiator and bottom hose- £50, £150+ when new
All other engine and gearbox bits and pieces will also be available, just ask

Such a shame as I was just getting the car to where I wanted it :( , but what with the cambelt and immobiliser issues, a new windscreen, MOT due next week it's just not worth me throwing more money at the car and as I've already got a 309 I'm working on, This is just another distraction that won't get done. Plus I've got a quattro for daily duties, looks a mess but runs well enough. Anyway, my loss is your gain, so pick what you want and if what you're after isn't on the list, just reply on here or drop me a PM and we can discuss more.

Cheers

James

I want someone to buy your whole car as a fixer-upper. If I had some mechanical skills, I might have done it myself - but I don't. It's too good to break up.

I may get the whole brakes pads and disks (and handbrake calipers if in decent shape) if:
a- they fit later 2001 D9 2.2HDi
b- shipping isn't terrible

Does the green stuff last longer or less than stock Peugeot pads?

I honestly couldn't tell you whether they'd for the later 2.2HDi, what I can say is that they are the 288mm discs.

I also can't really comment on wear speeds but from the Green Stuff pads I've had in the past, they seem to last a similar length of time, also they produce a lot less brake dust so your wheels look cleaner for longer.

I've got a feeling postage is going to be quite a bit to Italy I'm afraid. I will have a look into it tomorrow for you.

If shipping on the disks is too much may just get the pads only, they should be light enough?
Also what brand are disks?
I'll have a look at SB if you can PM me your VIN number or at least your car details.
If you want to have a look I can send you my VIN, as you prefer.

TBH, the price of new disks in your country will probably be a similar price as the postage cost as they are bloody heavy, and the disks are nothing fancy. They are also just the standard plain GSF type disks IIRC. I've just remembered I've also got a set of brand new boxed Goodridge braided brake hoses available too.
