Superb would be a better car than a Passat. It basically is a LWB Passat.

If I was looking another big saloon, I might consider a Chrysler 300.

You can get one of the new ones next year, and put the Lancia grille and interior in.

Chrysler Ypsilon and Delta sound familiar?.....

are you on about the 2011 chrysler 300c i see its been facelifted but its lost its sopranos tough look. i just dont think chrysler makes good cars i see they have rebadged the lancia range and are going to sell them here its hard to say how well that will work

They sold rehashed old Mercs, now they're selling rehashed Lancias.

The Chrysler Europe of old failed and was bought up by Peugeot. The Chrysler Horizon to be replaced by the Talbot Arizona that became the 309.

300 was a cool Sopranos-style car. But like all distinctive designs, it is to be watered down. Especially if it needs to be a replacement for the elegant (if ugly) Lancia Thesis.

i dont think chrysler selling rehashed lancias is going to work we wont buy them, its ok buying a chrysler if you think your getting an american style car not if your getting an italian car.

What is it with american cars at the moment they all seem to be badly made, even if you look at the brochures of them nice and new their interiors look like what hyundai did 10 years ago, but older american cars actually had great interiors. And its not just the interior looks, not many american brands sold over here have a good position in reliability surveys, yet back in the 90's a jeep cherokee was one of the toughest things you could drive.

Have you ever been in one? They're a sort of reverse Tardis - Range Rover on the outside, Mk3 Escort on the inside :frown:

...Shame the auto wiring is rubbish and they seem to suffer alot of engine fires as a result.

Just look at the Crossfire - Mercedes partership obviously has rubbed off on them the wrong way.

I don't think the Glasgow Airport incident was an engine fire ........ :supafrisk:

I'll get me coat.

The Suzuki Grand Vitara I thought was quite small in the inside. The outside is quite wide but by the time the bodywork narrows down past the wheels and doors, the interior isn't as wide as it looks.

The Audi A4 I always thought had a similar issue.

although an advantage of the vitaras small cabin is its seats fit in the smaller samurai.
the new mini is big on the outside and clusterphobic on the inside sitting in the back of one is not pleasent

A lot of it is the shape of modern cars, barrel sided for side impact bars.

So previously a car had a square shape cross section:

Code: Select all

----

O O
----
Now they have a pear shaped cross section:

Code: Select all

   ----

( )
O O
----------
But the interior width vs. the wheel width has gotten smaller.

that is quite true the new vauxhall insigina reminds me of that it looks big but feels more cramped than a smaller looking 406.
