Cable Clutch
Having been through service box I now know it has one! Are they any easier and cheaper to replace than the ones with hydraulics?

Well all of it ideally, I don't think the clutch or cable have been replaced before. There is no paperwork to show otherwise and the pedal is always a bit stiff, but I know most of them are.

iwouid just change the clutch cable,
iirc they are around £15- £20 at motor factors,
the clutch kit on yours wouid be peanuts compared to one in a Hdi etc
having no Dmf is a big bonus,

Thanks for that! I remember the master cylinder going in my old V6 vectra and the AA said the clutch would have to be replaced too, cost me £430 at the time, no more expensive clutch bills for me lol.

Try a bit of silicon grease on the end on the cable at the gearbox, work it in by lifting the clutch up and down a few times. Mine used to stick a bit on the way back up, but seems fine after that. Also, there are 2 plastic bushes at the top and bottom of the clutch fork. Replace these and refit with a smear of grease. This will make the clutch significantly lighter. I'm not sure how you would do this with the box in situ though.
