How to use a Galletto 1260

Post by FarmerPug »

I got myself one of these devices, thanks to niel, but i just would like to ask what do you do to install them.
So far ive copied all the files off the really tiny cd onto my computer:
Image
i opened the folder highlighted which opens this:
Image
and i went searching under ecu's:
Image

ill probably find the correct ecu type off servicebox characteristics. But is there any need to know stuff about doing this from the experience of anyone who has used it on a HDi. I have the 2.0 hdi is the correct upgraded file on this software, or do i need to get it from somewhere.

If you're relying on me, this may not end well...........

All non-semens HDI's use the Bosch EDC15 C2 ecu

Don't think you'll find owt useful remap-wise distributed with it

- try finding someone with a post 2002 remapped 110 and a sense of adventure...

I read the cars ecu to make a few copies of the original map file, the program seemed to freeze if i tried to do screenshots, so i just took photos of the screen.
Image
I plugged the machine into the obd socket, and the other end into the usb, tried the ecu data button but it froze a few times, i hadn't selected the make of car, or ecu, so i lifted off the ecu cover just to check i was selecting the right one:
Image
its an edc15, once that was selected i clicked the ecu data again and got these messages:
Image
Image
turned the ignition off and on again then pressed ok, then it says start data reading, and this is what it says:
Image
Is that info any help in knowing the right sort of remap file to use?

To back up the original file, click read ecu, a dialogue box comes up, asks you where you want to save it, and what to name it as:
Image
once save is pressed it starts about reading the ecu:
Image
things start to happen, the radiator fan comes on, and at about 25% the mfd flashed up a message about the airbag being defective:
Image
the reading takes about a minuite or two, then it says to turn off the dashboard:
Image
and thats the file read, i did this 4 times using different names for each files, saving 2 in a folder on the desktop and 2 in my documents, to stop them getting lost from corruption, and they all seem to be the same size of 512kb:
Image
Image
And after that i plugged it into the pp2000, there was an airbag fault registered, and a engine coolant temperature sensor, they cleared, and stayed away.

I just need a remapped file to put on, but should i backup the original file to a disk and usb pen as well just to be 'sure to be sure'?

I always recommend saving multiple copies of the original, on separate media, to ensure you can restore it, no matter what.

If you want to ensure files are the same, read them into Galletto, ('Open File'), in turn & compare the checksums. If you want to be certain, run fc from Command Prompt on both files.

The cooling fan behaviour is normal. The other faults are not, (least I havn't seen them myself).

If you download a map file from a car with even a slightly different configuration, you can get strange issues, (immobiliser not clearing, non-starting, rough running, eml light on, strange MFD error messages).

Take your time, be careful, make notes & whatever you do, don't let anything interrupt the download process.

i read on the old thread the airbag light coming up, what is fc on command prompt, on my computer there is 4 differently named files of the original map, can i read them into galletto without having it plugged into the car.

If i do go to upload a file ill have the computer on the charger, I've reinstalled xp there is very little on it, apart from pp2000, galletto, ms office and avg so its not having any problems running.
Who on here has used galletto on a 110, i know captain jack has did it on the old thread, I'm just not sure what file he uploaded.

It's XP's version of the old DOS file compare utility

When you click 'Open File' you read it into Galletto, which will then display the file name, size, checksum etc in the lower left window. Do it for each copy, make sure they match.

I have, but I don't have any useful files for fully-mux 110's, sorry.

Pm sent there, but ive done that thing you asked and checked the checksum of all the copies:
Image
all 4 copies are identical, no differences at all, except for the names, i changed them otherwise the computer would try and replace them.

I got a message from captain jack, it was the right link, so i downloaded it, and followed the instructions.
So i clicked open file and selected the file i downloaded:
Image
the checksum and other details came up, then click download file once your sure the old one is backed up and this is the right one:
Image
Image
Image
once it starts writing the radiator fan comes on and in the middle somewhere the airbag message pops up on the mfd, but i just let it continue thankfully there was no freezing or stalling of the progress bar it did it all quite smoothly:
Image
it got to 100% and then this message come up, which the instructions on the paper say turn off dashboard for 10 seconds:
Image
after that another message pops up telling you to turn it back on, and then thats it done, it just goes back to this screen:
Image
i thought there was something else to do after this, but i just clicked the exit button, disconnected the usb plug, then the device from the obd port and took away the computer.

The car started first turn of the key, no odd issues i took it for a drive and initially driving round the house it didn't feel much different, but pulling out onto the road from my house i do notice a significant difference, it pulls away much more effortlessly, and it can actually overtake stuff, i got stuck behind a tractor and there was enough power to get past without a care.
Yet it seems to be able to drive as smoothly as before, the trip computer actually shows better numbers when I'm driving normally.
A remapped 2.2 must be awesome.
