Try getting the engine hot, then (somewhere off-road) put it in reverse, pop the cables off and see if it still jumps out of gear.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

can someone confirm that having two cables is right?
Past car - D9 2.2 SRi estate, sleeper, family wagon & general hauler!
Current car - Ph3 1.8 306
