Also on the 2.2 many mechanics (also Peugeot's) break part of the belt plastic cover to ease access. Without breaking it they would need to do around 1 hour more work, I've been told.
So if iit is the same on the 2.0 if some clips of the belt cover are broken they it may have been changed.

well i didnt buy the car ..... massive dent in door (guy said on text message it was small could hardley see see it)
started car . was red hot engine when i got there he warmed it up cos he knew i was going at 12pm
then as i started it i noticed "anti pollution fault" and it apeared to have no engine management light on the clocks seems sum1 has removed the bulb all the clocks had signs of being removed ie the screws give it away
anyway we went on a test drive anyway car seemed to pull well clutch was fine in 5th at 35mph didnt slip .....
but when we got back i poped the bonnet and checked the crankshaft pulley and it was wobbling a lot side to side ... as well as hearing a spark every 10 seconds and the car reving high on its own

Ah, the joys of buying a car on Ebay. It never ceases to amaze me how people have such varying standards when it comes to their cars - which in many cases are either the 1st or 2nd most expensive possessions that they have...
How set are you on getting an estate? There are some real good saloons about for not too much money. Look at these 2:
Comparing the 2 makes the red one look to be a bloody good deal to me.

i mean............ to not tell me about the anti pollution fault and saying the dent on door is small and in fact it was size of a mens size 12 shoe ... did he think i wouldnt notice ..

Would that be the dent in line below the handle on the front passenger door? Or is that just the reflection playing tricks in the photos?
Are you set on a 406 estate then?

yes thats the dent i thought it was a reflection when the guy told me it was only small hardly noticable ....
it looks like sum1 has kicked it . a very large man with a size 12 shoe...
May be waiting a while then. Not many about round here at the mo either.
I'd probably have done well if I was selling mine - 40k less than any others within 30 miles & £750 cheaper than any with less than 100k within 60 miles.

if i cant find a 406 this week gonna look for a passat maybe ..... no new ones on autotrader or ebay now ive seen them all ...
You could always do what I did a couple of years ago when I was selling my Zafira. Picked up my 190E for £550 just so that I had something to use while looking for a new car. As long as you get something cheap enough, you won't lose much (if anything) when you find what you want & sell it on. I ended up making £50 on the Merc after 4 months of use.

Probably not, but it's one of those things where if I was made a decent offer I'd sell. Been like that with all my cars really though. Still keep looking elsewhere, but mine is doing the job for us at the moment.
Quite fancy a 607, 307 SW or C5, but I'd definitely want more power, so would be looking at 16v HDis. Reckon I'll stick within the PSA group now as I've just acquired an old XP laptop ready for use with PP2000/Lexia.

That's pretty peeving.
If he'd listed it honestly then he would probably have sold it.
That red one looks nice. Lovely colour. Blue one looks a bit expensive, but I guess it depends what you're after.
Both due for a cam belt (10 years). As above, I'd be happier to see more miles on them.
