i noticed my gearbox is out of oil, i've put 1 litre in so far but not full yet. im comserned there maybe metal bits in the oil as to the noise coming from it most times. so flushing out is a cheep option
how much oil does the gearbox take from empty.
how much does a second hand gearbox cost off here boys an girls

I think mosy 406 gearboxes take 1.9L of oil from empty but without knowing which type you have it could be more or less.
Silly question but how do you know its empty? To get the level correct all you need do is fill it with the correct grade of oil either through the reverse light switch hole or the filler/level hole until it overflows from the level hole.
1999 406 HDi 2.0 110 GTX Estate. 48k when bought, now 150K. Second owner, I've covered over 100k in it.
Clutch changed @110k, bottom pulley changed, cam belt changed, EGR blanked, cat removed, front springs changed.

Mate don't let it overflow. Do it right. Find out from pug how much it takes

Just checked in Haynes and other tech manual, it states 1.9 ltrs
