Getting a click type feeling from clutch pedal-anyone?

I'm getting a click when I press down on the clutch. Its more feeling the click than hearing it.Happens when engines off as well. I've looked online & someone else said there's was caused by a plastic thing where the pedal connects to cable.
Please don't anyone say slave-cylinder UNLESS they KNOW what they're talking about.(pretty please)

Just had mechanic have a quick look at it & he reckons it's the pressure-plate

Your clutch is hydraulic... it could be wear in the spindle or all sorts of things, these clutches work a bit differently but a cracked diaphragm would make a noise. I'd check everything for anything visible, failing that wait for the clutch to fail in a more obvious manner

Steve I was told by mechanic who had a quick look, that it could be pressure plate on way out. Said he'd fix it. New 3 pce clutch kit and fitted for £180. I'm astounded at his price. Is the clutch on my 406 hdi (90) a really big job? Does subframe need dropped etc?He's quitewell known where he works so might take him up on his offer. Another thing I wanted to ask u- should the aux belt tensioner wheel (that's new) have movement when running.? He noticed it & said that's wrong. Maybe wrong size belt put on it

I had this issue on my Honda Accord diesel. It was basically a master clutch cylinder squeaking and I had to lubricate it every few months with some grease to make the noise go away.

My clutch also squeaks from the pedal but very faintly and I haven't bothered looking into it.

No jack. This isn't anything like a squeak!
I think I saw lots of civic/accord clutch items on the forums & after they changed the slave,they still had the prob,such as mine. It's not the slave. Noise is coming from the gearbox.
Ps if you thought 406 clutch probs are bad there's hundreds of Honda items on this same thing

Yeah, I know all about Honda's crap clutches. The clicky master cylinders (at the pedal end) are notoriously unreliable, cost £200 and fail after 20k miles anyway. A weak, unreliable car all around

If the clicking is definitely coming from the gearbox itself and not from anywhere near the pedal, then it's probably the clutch going (pressure plate or thrust bearing).

Had the same on mine. 2.0 HDI
Release bearing failed, destroying pressure plate and operating fork. I fitted a cheap clutch from a online vendor. Lasted 10 months and 1 of the springs worked its way out of friction disc and started touching flywheel bolts, gearbox was still turning when pedal pressed causing crap gearshift.
Also fragments of metal stuck to position sensor causing crap running.
Fitted a new 3 piece good quality clutch and cleaned sensor, ran like a new un

Jack what u think bout &180 for new clutch supplied & fitted. I thought it's ridiculously cheap & yet the guy is a popular mechanic. He's eastern European & they DO tend to know their stuff. Does subframe need to be dropped? It's a (90)

I have never had a clutch replaced on a 406 (but have on the stupid Accord!) so I've no idea what the going rate is. £180 including parts, labour and the VAT does seem cheap but if the mechanic knows what he's doing then I guess there's nothing to worry about.

I know mjb had to drop his subframe on the V6 Coupe but I don't believe it needs to come out.

Subframe does not need to be removed on the 90.

Industry book time is 5 hours, my mate who does these jobs for me is usually around that time.

Needs to be on a 2 post ramp with a transmission jack to do the job without removing or lowering subframe....my mate slides the gearbox towards the front of the car and lowers it on the transmission jack, I've seen him do it.

WOW-3 HRS 45 MINS TO RENEW MY CLUTCH-£180 supplied & fitted!! Can't be bad eh
The click I was feeling must've been the release bearing and pressure-plate. My old clutch,the fingers on pressure plate right at the ends were broke. Think only 2 or 3 were left whole at the tips towards the middle, so the bearing was going into it. Was starting to feel tiny bit o soft crunch right on the last day of old clutch!
Totally satisfied with his work. Now, to replace my starter motor and tensioner-wheel.
