Standard CD in my D8

i currently have tape cassette player in my D8

can i buy a standard CD player and just plug it in and it work ok ?

well after posting this i looked on ebay for sum clarions

and i think i found my answer and its NO since all D9s have the radio display on the MFD and mine doesnt have a MFD

Forget the D9 radios. Like you said, they are set up to use the D9 MFD, and on top of that, they're coded to the VIN stored on the car's BSI.

Hang about, don't you have some fancy Alpine HU in your old car? Can't you just transplant that over?

all my audio equipment has been sold mate ... leaving audio standard from now on . to much messing about fitting them .

i will just get a cheap cd player i think with bluetooth on ...

Well, 406 speakers are reasonably good standard-fit kit, what really lets them down is the head unit.

The Sony MEX-BT3600U I have sounded MUCH better than the stock HU when I had it installed in my old LX saloon - really big improvement over the stock system, even with the standard speakers. That HU cost me about £130 from Halfords a little under three years ago and is still going strong.

I only replaced the rear speakers in my Coupe because one of them was rattly and buzzed a lot (turns out a previous owner had "repaired" it using duct tape). JBL GTO938s are really good speakers, and not too pricey.

ive seen a d9 radio and mfd in a d8
dont know how he did it but it all works perhaps they used a chunk of the d9 loom

ye my 1st D8 had very poor sound . thats why i upgraded .. but my new 2nd d8 is pretty darn good for standard in a 1999 car, thats why i wanted to leave it standard.

but i will look out for a cheap sony bluetooth HU to stick in there ... and as you said have better sound even with the standard speakers ///

I might have a parrot ck3100 bluetooth for sale soon,it came from a Peugeot 306 and just plugs into the iso plugs on the back of a standard stereo and cuts out the radio and uses the car speakers,simples!
