across abit, its on the coast and thirsk is more inland.

It will have a ten litre cummings lump (or possibley man) right at the very back where the boot is on a car. This gives lots of cantilevered weight over the rear, drive, wheels. And it is an auto to, the dont make them as stick boxes. He might have struggled if he had to stop though. And some bus operators fit snow tyres on the inner of the twin rear wheels, which does help lots.
But the key is heavy torquey low reving engine hanging out over the back of the drive wheels. What normally stops me in situations like this is funny little cars stuck spinning their wheels and getting in the way.

Still a good driver my arse twitched twice this year on that hill in my 406 estate :shock:
