Updated: Clutch Fitted

Post by RayneR »

I might give a try to that clutch kit, because it's a lot more cheaper then here, here just for only the clutch i would pay around 350-400 EUR ( ) so you can imagine with the flywheel ...

Thank you.

From the description it looks for an HDi engine, but well, it's only the clutch. Everyone that i know suggest that i should also change the flywheel.

Sorry, for putting this old topic up on the list, but as i'm about to change the clutch i just need some info :

1 - Does 406's have concentric slave cylinder or a release bearing ?
2 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170700447081? ... 1423.l2649

With this kit, i'll be good ?

3 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330381387390? ... 1423.l2649

this one is also good ?

4 - Changing the DMF to a Solid Flywheel is the best thing to change ? <- correct?

5 - With these 4 pieces(clutch,release bearing,driven plate,flywheel) i'm good to go ?
right?

Thank you so much, really.

ok, anyway, most of the sellers ask for the reg number, are they asking the plate number or the vin chassis number ? with this they can confirm what my engine will use. but my guess it's that all 406 use a release bearing. What do you think about the clutch there ? My intention is to do a soft remap, like 20 bhp , so those clutchs will be fine for this type of remap ?.

edit:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0814228952

i sent my vin number to this seller, and he said that this solid flywheel won't fit in my car, but this is strange because my engine code is the same as they are saying in the listing my car is a 2.0 110bhp DW10ATED, it's missing in my car to not fit ?...

edit 2: the seller replied, saying that they assume that this solid flywheel is for an early model that was not fitted with a dual mass.

but my question here is, will this solid flywheel fit anyway? i suppose they are interchangeable

Thank you. I really need a quick help here, thank you so much for your help.

Ah, you did post it. As in the pm the code comes up as a D8 HDi 110 which is an RHS, not an RHZ, so D8 HDis didn't have a dual mass flywheel. I didn't actually think there was much difference but obviously there is.

I also seem to remember seeing something about the depth of the recess of the flywheel, at a guess the dual mass flywheel is probably wider, so a conversion flywheel would also need to be wider.

What do people think of this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Solid-Flywhee ... 588f7b8bdd Postage to Portugal is 18 quids, which seems very reasonable considering.

Well, i wanted to buy separately because i can buy upgraded clutch, and on those complete kits with flywheel it's just a random clutch right ? That kit will satisfy the future proof for remap ?

I think you have heard about techniclutch , but i searched a bit on google and there is some problems with their clutchs so i don't want them.

thanks.

Found this one, it's from valeo , i asked for postage and they quoted 40£ , so, for all of the kits posted here this one is the most reliable and a little more cheap then the one you posted don't you think ?

Thank you very much.
