Thanks Doggy,
I'll probably take it somewhere expensive. Austec in Crawley seem to think they are the cohones, be nice to get some 1st hand experience. Also need to get rid of the niggles first.

Have got a topbox but it only comes out for ski trips. No need for a dog guard, unless the kids are winding me up.

Well, since i'm not willing to brick my ecu, i could try it anyway if the file was from the same year and till the same month. ( since i heard that if it's from same year and era)

Does anyone here have a ecu image file for my rig ?

Let's say with about only more 20 bhp ? It could be handy if it comes with cruise control enabled ( or this doesn't get remaped ? )

Will the remap file mess with anything regarding miles on BSI and dashboard ?

Thanks.

Well, mine it's a 110bhp 2.0 from May 2000 EState/SW, so it won't fit the 110 406 version right ?

I could try with a bit more power like 135 bhp or 130 bhp, i don't wont to force anymore than this or can i have more than this?

Will the remap change anything on miles side ? or miles shown on BSI and dashboard has nothing to do with ECU ? OR do we have to edit the remap file to match the miles it has got ?

btw martint, thanks for the feedback you gave about the clutch on my clutch thread.

If I was getting a custom map done for a 406 I would make sure I had done the following first to enable the highest performance from a bespoke map:-

Full service, change all filters.
Fit a high flow air filter, K&N etc
drill out cat, and DPF if you have one (DPF can be deleted from ECU when map created)
Blank EGR then clean inlet manifold out - can then be deleted from ECU when map created
larger diameter exhaust from turbo back
Get the de doser kit fitted to aid the spool of your turbo, more boost can then be applied, resulting in a higher bhp/torque map

I think a remap is really the last mod you want to do IF it is a custom map but a generic one can be applied at any time. A custom map should be done on a smooth, clean running engine and if you want the most out of your engine performance wise then the above modifications should be done first to aid the creation of a higher tuned map, otherwise its not really worth getting one done as you will still have emissions and performance sapping restrictions on your car which a map doesnt really resolve.

A car which has all the restrictions removed and left with a stock map will run better and have better longevity than a car that has just been mapped with no other mods.
