I wouldn't use kwik fit while I've got a hole in my arse. They can't even regas aircon without blowing pipes.

Whats your email address and chassis number mate, I'll email you a guide

Excuse my 2p worth, but knocking could indicate a faulty DMF (dual mass flywheel). Most folks swap the DMF & clutch together, (some advocate solid flywheel conversion while you're at it).

If you're already aware, please ignore me butting in.....

The flywheel connects between the clutch and the engine.

It is a heavy piece of material which provides mass to compensate for the pulses of engine power between power strokes of the engine

Basically, it helps the engine to be smooth during the production of power.

A dual-mass flywheel is more commonly used in vehicles that produce a large amount of torque (read: turbodiesel engines), the idea being that the flexible compound that joins both parts of the dual-mass flywheel together will dampen the vibrations further than a standard solid flywheel would, thereby reducing wear on the engine, clutch, and gearbox. The problem with them is that they are more complicated, and over time the damping mechanism wears out, leading to excessive movement of the secondary mass, and the two parts of the flywheel will vibrate and cause the kind of problems the bloody thing was designed to solve.

Not all dual-mass flywheels suffer from these problems, and as time goes on the technology will improve, but on the 307, 406 and 407, people have reported the DMF is problematic, and it is possible to buy solid flywheel conversion kits for these cars.

Damn, i'm amazed how you guys can explain it in a way i can understand 8)

Thanks for your explanation, i do know that it can be changed for a solid one .. which is the thing i will do when my clutch dies ( It's almost ( maybe in 1 year ? ) )

I Just changed the crankshaft pulley with a solid one ... my dual died ...which was changed for another scrapy dual one and died in the other day after  then we found a solid one which we couldn't find in our first attempt ...

Thank you so much :)

Hi I have just bought a 406 HDi 110 and the clutch is very high on the pedal & it seems to slip occasionally.

I was wondering if there is any chance of getting the instructions for changing the clutch too?

email address is [email protected]

chassis number.... VF38ERHZE80831850

thanks in advance :)
