Post by FarmerPug »

How many people have switched over to digital yet, i keep getting people giving me their old CRT TV's telling me they work great, but what can you do with them, i just tell people to cut off the plug and take them to the dump. What are they going to use them for now?

You can still use them for dvd players/ sky/ freeview boxes and games consoles... or use it with an old fashion ariel to watch tv  .... or have they blocked the old signal?

I hope that dont mean i'm going to need a digital ariel for my caravan? at the moment my freeview tv works a treat through the dome ariel fitted as standard but standard was way before digital so i must be picking it up through the old signal.

If they've stopped the tuners working it's only a matter of time before they con us into buying new ariels saying the old signal will become no more.

Have a look at the "caravantalk" forum as i think it's been covered quite well on there which ariels work and which don't with digital.

there is no such thing as a digital aerial. and any1 who tells you there is are full of sh*t basically. your setup that you have now will be fine for many many years to come.
all normal aerials work fine with freeview boxes and always will.

i still have an areial in my attick that is about 20 years old and it works perfect with ANY digital set top box and always will

if an aerial fitter tells you that you will get better digital signal with a "digital aerial" hes telling a load of lies.

ask him what is a digital aerial and see what he says

old aerial. what do you mean old ? is it inside or outside the house ?

re- my post above. all old aerials will and should pick up a signal through a freeview box,

iagree on The airiel thing,

idont think it matters what airiel you have,
ours is Rusty still good signal even tho were sorounded by trees,

going to grab anew airiel from Asdas, there doing kits for under £20 so its not too bad, saves paying airiel chap £70 ish

CRT tvs will be in use for the next 20 years. not every1 will change to plasma or lcd. CRT tvs still work today

it does not matter what tv you have. CRT ? plasma ? LCD ? LED ?
as long as the input source is a freeview digital set top box or sky or cable any of the above tvs will work fine for as long as you need . even CRTs will work perfect .

just because it was the digital change over that doesnt mean CRT tvs are no good. they will be good to use for the next century .
