Re: Garage Floor paint
get a paint that you mix a hardener into, will last a lot longer.
floor paint is best to leave to dry for as long as possible, and if you do it now, you need to make sure you can heat the room up to help it dry....

Re: Garage Floor paint
Lozz, i had thought about doing the walls, white would make it brighter i suppose, i have heard it needs primer first but ill take a look at the stuff you said in B+Q.
Would it need much more breathing, the walls and floor were done back in december 2009? its a bit narrow but at least its dry and the superser soon warms the place up, but my uncle planned to put in a stove hence the chimney hole in the wall.
I looked at the international paint, halfords seem to sell it:

Re: Garage Floor paint
Yes idealy: you need Abase coat mate,
thats why imentioned the paint in the Builders section as its all in one, no base coat/primer needed, couple of coats job done,
other than that if youve got or can get your hands on,any white cheap crappy stuff emulsion, id throw that on the walls first
then go over it after with some Good stuff, saves ££s in the long run,
thats what we do when we paint out shops, as the Contract paint we use is expensive, (and ilike to come home with enough to paint out one of the rooms in the house

Re: Garage Floor paint
It's not an anti slip paint of course and it has a glossy finish but I never had any slip issue.sirwiggum wrote:Does it provide a bit of texture? Wouldn't want a floor like an ice rink!

Re: Garage Floor paint
I didn't paint the floor yet, but i did get a big tub of Crown Vinyl matt emulsion obliteration white, and after some time with a brush and roller it looks like this now:

just the one wall left to do now:

Its definatley much brighter in there now, and its nice to see the inside of the garage without cobwebs in every corner.

Re: Garage Floor paint
The painting is finished, i just about had enough to finish the last wall so no second coat with the same stuff, but i think once this is on anything can go over it without soaking into the wall, here it is:

What would be the thing to do on the wall so the car door can open but not get damaged, how would you put carpet on a wall?

Re: Garage Floor paint
If you use carpet on the wall,
make sure it dosent touch the floor,
carpet gets damp, and starts stinking,
not a good thing to use in agarage tbh
something like poly s - out of packaging might be better

Re: Garage Floor paint
its a bit too expensive for something scrapyards probably want rid off (aren't these what the bumpers of lorry trailers have), would trunking not break if hit hard enough?lozz wrote:FarmerPug wrote:this looks like a good job only a bit pricey though:

I didn't do much with the floor yet, but i got a blind for the window, i think its best if tools and things are not on display:

(new window handle will be required some time, the key was lost on this one so a bit of brute force may have led to its demise)

Not bad for £10, i got these blinds before for the shed and although they are cheap they do the job, and are easy to install, although these ones were a bit fiddly they only come in preset sizes so i got 120x210cm but the window opening is 118x120ish, cutting the width by 3mm was tedious, the length is much easier reduced.

thats what ive seen people use tho with Tight garage space just to save the doors getting banged on the wall,
idont have that problem tho ijust drive in and leave big gap on drivers side -enough so drivers door opens /closes freely,
thats when ican be botterd to use garage,
i C.b.a atm

Re: Garage Floor paint
What about something like this sliced down the middle then glued to the wall?

Re: Garage Floor paint
Wouldn't happen to have some spray on carpet glue hanging around too have you? i got some but it's over my caravan next time i go over i'll pick it up and try sticking some of that lagging to a bare wall here and let you know
i'd have thought it would work though it's bloody good stuff.
If you got some lagging there try painting it white like your walls it should look good after a few coats.
Heres the one i used they sell it in B&Q. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Super-Spray-A ... 2a0b076879
