Variable vane turbos

Do we have variable vane turbos?
How can I tell if mine is or not?
Anyone tried using turbo cleaner?

Only the 2.2HDi had a Variable Vane Turbo.

All the VAG diesels have them I believe.

Mines a K03 and has some kind of vacuum actuator operating a small lever via a link rod, as seen here:

Whats the lever doing if it's not variable? Wastegate?

that's the waste gate actuator
