Done my bloody back in ...

Post by highlander »

... simply walking across my bedroom floor on Saturday morning :( Pulled a muscle in my lower back, and haven't been out of the house since Friday.

This is the first day I've got near the PC; so far I've been hammering Netflix (30 day free trial on it and on Lovefilm, but I reckon I'm going to ditch both Lovefilm and Sky Movies as Netflix is bloody brilliant). I've also started watching 24, never seen it before, and they seem to have the first 4 seasons on Netflix - am really enjoying it so far.

Will probably be back at work on Wednesday, as I'm loads better than I was on Saturday morning, but still basically walking like a man 3 times my age (that'd be 95) and unable to bend.

Oh what fun!

Sorry to hear that dude. I guess I can sympathise too, I've been pretty much useless for about 8 months now :(

However, you are, what, 31 and a bit? You shouldn't really be pulling muscles in your back walking across your bedroom. Heed the warning signs

Thanks for the well-wishing; I know my current ailment is a lot less than a lot of folks have had (Lozz, Mrs. Teamy, Steve, and Mrs Gary406) and I can certainly sympathize with you all - back pain sucks ass. Here's hoping all four of you have a speedy recovery.

Netflix is awesome; I am watching it on my PS3. The Mrs likes it as well (once I show her yet again how to switch on the TV, the PS3, and the surround-sound box); she finds the catalogues easy to browse, and we both like the way it learns what films and TV shows you like and creates personalized suggestion lists. Plus, you can watch it on your Android or Apple device (using the free app), or using your browser from your PC - so if I'm in a hotel room somewhere I can watch films. It's £6.99 a month and you can watch however many films you like, unrestricted. Big thumbs-up from me.

Sorry to hear you're suffering with it. I had no back trouble at all until past 50, then one day I tried to put half a dozen eggs in a shopping trolley when it hit me.

I too appreciate others have suffered and continue to suffer a great deal more and just feel grateful I'm OK barring an occasional few painful days. Hope you're over it soon Graeme.

Sorry to hear that matey, I had a slipped disc in 1998 and have never been the same since, it's quite bad again at the moment but you're best to keep at it as soon as you're up and about (keep active).

Best to keep fairly slim, exercise regular, and ALWAYS think about your back when bending/lifting things. A good quality mattress is very helpful, we bought a Tempur mattress (approx £1,100.00 10 years ago) and it's still brilliant today.

Hope you recover soon.

Thanks for all the well-wishing; I'm back at work now, but the muscles in that part of my lower back are still a bit stiff and sore. Hopefully this will be completely cleared up by Monday.

Wish you all good Orthopedic health.

Do you know what annoys me is that people who don't suffer don't know what it's like and I'm sure they think you're taking the piss having time off for 'a bad back'

If only they knew.......

In fact there were a couple of people back then I'd have cheerfully wished my slipped disc onto....

Thankfully my work are pretty good about things like that, and I haven't had any problems with people not understanding, or being shitty with me due to being off most of the week.

Also very thankful it was a simple muscle strain rather than anything skeletal/neural.

I've somehow managed to lay myself up on three separate occasions without a day off. Once on Boxing Day a couple of years ago and twice while on holiday.
