What do we think of this?

Post by Bailes1992 »

Bargain of the century!
Image

Skoda Superb Elegance
3.6FSi V6
Four wheel drive.
18" Alloys
Full leather
More toys than you can shake a stick at...

£29,000!

Currentley looking for a new motor for my old man.
Basically has to be around £30k or less, brand new, four wheel drive and fairly quick.

Compared to come of the other cars we were looking at. This is cheap as chips!

I showed my Dad, we were talking about performance and features. Started showing him pictures and he just goes "It has four exhausts? Why didn't you tell me it has four exhausts? I mean... FOUR EXHAUSTS FOR GOD SAKES!" :cheesy:

What do you guys think?

Skodas are meant to be great value for money, really well-built and full of features. Not a bad-looking motor, and the 4x4 coupled to a 3.6 litre V6 - sounds good to me.
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD :(
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

It's a rebodied Passat with a VR6. I'd ask the mechanic but I already know what he thinks about a VR6...

Infact it seems to good to be true to me...

We were looking at these...
BMW 320d Sport in Grey with Red leather - £33,500
Mercedes C250 CDi Sport in Red, Black leather and AMG Alloys - £34,500
BMW 520d M-Sport - £38,000
Ford Mondeo 2.0T Ecobost TXS 240 - £29,700

None of which met all of the criteria!

The only cars that met our 4x4 criteria...
Subaru Outback 3.6R - £37,000
Volvo S60 T6 AWD - £36,000
Audi A4 Quattro 3.0TDi Sport - £37,000
Vauxhall Insignia VXR - £35,000

Suddenly you can see why the Skoda is such a bargain!
It's a BMW 530i with four wheel drive for high end Ford Mondeo money!

He lets me drive his current Volvo V50 T5?
And in all fairness I never put my foot down cause I'm too scared of it
And I don't even drive it that much.

Once I put my foot down going to overtake someone does 35mph on a wide national A road. I forgot I was drivin the Volvo, dropped into second, put my foot down and crapped myself

Don't think it's a VR6. It's a more modern FSi engine with direct injection and what not.
The current T5 does 0-60 in 6.7s and 149mph. This isn't that much faster 0-60 in 6.5s and 155 limited but I imagine it will have more mid range grunt.

From Wiki (because I'm too lazy to look anywhere else):
a flagship 3.6 litre 191 kW (260 PS; 256 bhp) FSI VR6 engine (a detuned version of that fitted in the Passat R36) complete with 4motion four-wheel drive and six-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG)
Is this a company car? If not, do you plan to keep it more than 3 years? If not then it won't be around long enough to turn into a money pit.

I must confess that, for me, it's seems like there aren't many modern cars, let alone interesting ones, that you can say "it'll all go horribly wrong" about and have much chance of being proved wrong, My mate's brother bought a Megan a few months back and once more I said it'd all end in tears. 3 years old, 60kkm and the head gasket just went

Do Lada still make cars?

Yes. This includes the Lada Riva, which still looks like this (basically unchanged since it was a Fiat 124):

... and the more modern-looking Lada Priora, which looks like this:
