Re: door locks
best way would probably be to buy an aftermarket amarm system that has remote locking..
but i think the car needs to have central locking via the key anyway ..
i thought all 406s had remote locking ?

Best thing to do is buy a aftermarket central locking kit,
dosent have to be a Alarm one if you want an alarm one itwouid involve loads of wiring to be done,
find one thats got the least wires that need fitting,
some only need 3 or 4 wires,
hardest bit is working out the Trigger wires on the mech inside the drivers door,
the kits cost as litte as £20 and come with 2 remotes usualy (Ebay)

Hello and welcome. You need to be much more specific as not all 406s had the same equipment list.acrossley wrote:hi can any one tell me how to fit remote locking as the car has no fobs just key
Can you tell us:
1) What year was your 406 first registered?
2) What trim level does it have? (i.e. L, LX, Rapier, GLX, GTX, S, SRi, SE, Executive, V6)
3) How many keys did you get when you bought your car?
4) Is it a Saloon/Estate or is it a Coupe?
I know for sure that my LX-spec saloon from 1999 had remote central locking, and was supplied with two keys - a "driver's key" which has the central locking on it, and a "valet key" which does not have the transponder and was just a key. The same is true with my SE-trim Coupe.
It might just be that the person that sold you the car either never had the key when they bought it, or they've lost the key and didn't tell you when they sold it to you.
