Mine seized up on my old d9,
so just flung it in wheelie bin, 8kg lighter !

there was abit of hastle with the belt, ithink we used avan aux belt jumpy van or something,

ask in your local parts place they will or shouid cross reference one for you, idont think the d9 came with none aircon hence having to source one intended for another vehice which had no aircon best off getting 2 one for a spare if you go this route,

ignore this if you dont have the facelift d9 406,
it wouid help if you added more details to what year your 406 is

if you do remove it, just be careful, that stuff can make your fingers fall off (frostbite)

Short of gas i reckon,on my old 306 there was a low pressure sensor on the a/c system that prevented the a/c pump from cutting in when the pressure was low,the light on the dash would still come on but the pump wouldn't,i would assume it's the same on the 406

The problem is if it's short of gas it's gone somewhere like if you've a puncture the airs gone somewhere and the leak'll need fixing. An aircon chap at work regased my old 306 but it only lasted a couple of months before it stopped working again.

True, idont know if mines leaked out or its just been, constantly used,
its an ex fleet car, Hire car, so fingers crossed its not leaked,

going to use the kwick fit for that reason, if it does leak its not cost me nothing, idont think £49 is too bad if it works,
