Loving abit of millers ecomax!

Post by Bailes1992 »

Check my spiritmonitor!
Added 140ml of Millers Ecomax last Sunday.
Last week I drove abit quicker than I usually do and still got an extra 4mpg 8)
Also the car is much quieter when hot, and a little less clattery when cold.
Seems to pickup harder and for longer but that maybe a placebo.

But fact of the matter is I drove pretty hard last week AND my MPG is up!

Since I refilled (£75  ) I don't have any Wynns Diesel Injector Cleaner in, and it feels very slow, especially at low revs.
I've still got a bottle left, so I'll pop that in before I go to Manchester the week after next -- and over Holme Moss.

Maybe I need to get some of this instead since putting injector cleaner in long term sounds like a bad idea.

What actually is it in them that's making the difference?

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

It's got mild injector cleaners, so over time it cleans your injectors and keeps them clean.
It upps the cetane of the diesel, boosts torque etc etc.
It's about £10 for 500ml and you use 1ml per litre or you can give it double doasge which I did at first.
Basically if you do 46mpg you use 1ml per 10 miles. So I add 1ml per 10 miles, so if I've done 257miles I add 26ml. Regardless of MPG, so chances are it will always have a little more than a single dose in there.

Add it first and then fill the car up with diesel to make it mix better.

Right I fill up every Friday and usually by Saturday (I do the same drive every Saturday) the computer is uaually showing around 35mpg.
My drive on a Saturday includes driving upto Maesteg, over a mountain into Cwmavon and into Port Talbot, quick black down the M4 and into Swansea where I get stuck in Traffic.
The mountain is a pain, lots of inclines that I usually need 3rd/4th to do and lots of load.
Today I was using 4th and 5th instead so it must have more power low down!
My computer is saying 44.1mpg. So nearly a 10mpg difference ? :|

That maybe placebo
Been there done that

After using Millers diesel sport 4 for many years and I have tried the newer version ecomax. I can honestly say it may improve things very very slightly. But not enough for me to keep buying it.

I would just stick to good quality fuel and regular servicing.

As for trying to calcualte if your car runs any better you would need a lab as with day to day driving there is to many variants.

Thats my take on it.

Rappy.

Sport 4 and Ecomax were the same product.
They changed the name or boost sales ;)
