the keyless entry systems are not too bad idont think,
this card thing ive got tho gets apain at times, easy to loose or snap it,
id sooner have keys,

Ok heres a question and a bit of a story, i went to trade center Wales a few days before i bought the 406 and really fancied a Laguna think it was 56 plate about 4 grand (sorry for being vague i'd been out to watch the footy and had a few bevvies... wife was driving btw)

To be honest i was really struck by the push button start and novelty handbrake and the boot was huge, while there the dealer told me a story about a newer Renault his collegue had that you only need to have the key on you and the car will start... Is that right? he recons the guy started his car drove to London turned engine off filled up the car paid for his fuel then realised he had dropped his card outside his house.

In other words he was 200 miles away and litterally fooked.

inside the Reader theres 2 micro switches, so straight away the car knows if the card is in or out,
you couid wedge something in there, but it wont start,
inside the card is a coil, this sends the signal to the Bsi and knocks the imob off,
but perhaps someone Might have had an imob tool on it and disabled it perhaps,

its not something id try anyway,

Btw. if you looking at lags at 4grand you did the right thing, not buying it, they dont hold there value,
you can pick 04 -05 plate up for a grand, have alook on Autotrader there going for peanuts, good car tho if you pick a good one

I've heard similar with a Toyota Awlus.

My other half, her work colleague got dropped off in it by her husband as her 307 (that he used as it was good on diesel) was getting fixed (again).
She had the keycard in her handbag, went into work, he went to a warehouse to buy supplies for his work.
He got back to the car and realised he couldn't get in or start it, she had to get someone from her work to run her to give him the keycard.

What shambles.

Also, how does it work with those car keys in a bowl games?

mine wont anyway, as soon as ipull the card out everythings dead, even the radio goes off

The ones were talking about i dont think they even have a card slot, i think aslong as the key is on you all you have to do is try the door and it opens then push the start button and off you trott.... sod that for a laugh the mrs can never find the keys as it is.

Dunno how the Toyota works. I'd imagine it was proximity, like an RF keycard, rather than the Laguna where you plug the key fob in (which is a more sensible solution).

That's right, the Grand Scenic I had for work last year was like that. You couldn't drop the key outside the house & drive off though - I experimented with my one. Once the key card is a certain distance away from the car it conks out. Didn't trust the automatic locking on it either - when you walk back to check if it locked, the car unlocks again. I was in the hotel car park one afternoon & I put the key on the grass & then walked back to see if it was locked - the couple outside having a smoke found it most amusing.

Had the electronic handbrake too. When you try to take the handbrake off with the button it tells you to put your foot on the brake. I spent 2 days trying to juggle the pedals for hill starts before I found out that it releases automatically when you set off.

That's a big step forward - in some African countries, they now not only steal your laptop, but cut off your finger as well.

No, what they do is steal your laptop, rip out the hard drive and put it in an external USB drive caddy, connect it to another PC, format it, put it back in the original laptop, install a new OS on it, and sell it.

They don't care about the data on your drive, they just want to sell your laptop for money.

I'm sorry i know i shouldn't do this but

I saw that coming a few years back when my cousin bought his daughter a laptop that needed her thumb print, c'mon it's not rocket science it was going to happen.

Surely the finger would shrivel and the fingerprint would be useless?

Also worries me about biometric eyeball recognition
