How? Make instrument lighting come on with ignition

I find it annoying that whenever I enter a tunnel or car park I can no longer see the instruments.

Anyone got any suggestions on how I can rewire the instrument cluster lights to come on with the ignition (as opposed to now, where it's the light switch)? Any pictures of the relevant parts?

is your fitted with auto lights if so just activate them and when you go into a tunnel hey presto you will have lights to the dash

That is what I do on mine. My basic caution would advise against messing with a fully functioning set of electronics when all you have to do is to turn on the head or parking lights to solve the problem, if indeed it is a problem.

What year is your 406?

It's a 1999 D9, but with VAN-bus (i.e. not auto-lights).
