Ford confusion

My sister in law has recently bought a a fiesta zetec s 1.6 petrol which is allegedly a 'sport' version. She does like her hot hatches and bought it to replace a Golf GT Sport (diesel)
It is actually a very nice looking car (not my cup of tea) 17" wolfrace alloys, half leather, sporty looking body work etc...
Having a proper nosey at it yesterday and thinking those 205 40 17 directional tyres won't be cheap to replace when something caught my eye....very small front discs and what looked to me like tiny drums on the back....on a sport???
Do ford just fit the bling and leave everything else standard on them?
120bhp on a small car like that will make it perky I would imagine but sporty I don't think so, in fact she did admit her diesel golf was considerably quicker.
Auto trader has them down as sub 10 seconds 0-60 and 120 top end but hot hatch - I don't think so. Personally I wouldn't fancy throwing it into the bends and I would always be worried that the brakes were under sized before I gave it too much right foot.

The other half had a Fiesta Studio which had a CD player but windy up windows and didn't even have fold down seats (which even the 406 and Accord coupe have!).

At least with rear drums theres no danger of binding rear brakes.

Expect a smaller bore master cylinder and/or larger servo. Oh, and lots of brake fade...

Most standard brakes are, well, standard. They'll be 'ok' for most uses but will overheat when pushed.

The discs may look small behind 17" wheels but will have been sized based upon the weight of the car etc.

I'm ashamed to admit on a public forum that my car is fitted with Ford Mondeo brakes as standard it is something I'm trying to come to terms with but its been a difficult time for me personally.

You mean Jaguar brakes surely?

With all the component sharing that goes on, surely brakes are going to be fairly standard across a wide section of vehicles?

Looking at Auto Trader too, I can see they are down as 10.2 to 60 and 113 top end, but still not much for a sporty car. My old 94 Corolla with the 4AFE block could do that and that was an incredibly boring car!

If only it was that easy to work on a car.

I was watching the simpsons last night, and Skinners car was a Volvo (looked like a 740), Bart put balloons on the engine and it flew away. Skinner commented that the engine was from Yugoslavia and thats not even a country anymore.
How is that possible?
A bit like when Homers car was wrote off, the man said it was Yugoslavian, but the only car they imported to the US was the Yugo 45.

Anyhoo, Ford are like VW, everything apart from the air in the tyres (13" on steel wheels) is an option. You want brakes? That'll be the Titanium Ghia X brake pack.
