Laptop Advice

Post by leestudd30 »

I've been researching laptops for ages now, and I've found 3 that I like the sound of! 2 HP Pavillion ones which have 2 different quad core chips and and an Acer one with a second gen Intel i5. They all have a pretty good spec, there is about £50 between the 3 of them, any opinions on them?

That's a good price. The HP Pavilion G6 is a good machine too; we got one for my step-son to use at college, got it for under £500, and it had a Core i3 processor, and I think it had nVidia graphics, but I know the spec of the machine is good and it seems to be good value for money.

My wife has an older-model Pavilion dv9000-series "entertainment" laptop (i.e. built-in HD screen, TV tuner, remote control, Windows Media Centre, DVD playback out-of-the-box, etc) and it's been going strong these last 5 years (it had a system board replacement under the extended warranty earlier this year, other than that the only thing wrong with it is the battery is now starting to crap out).

Congrats, hope it gives you many years of reliable service!

Whats HPs quality like these days?

They used to have a reputation for the solder on the charger point becoming weak.
