Re: Santas Been :D
I too think 3 series a a bit boring. The looks of them is just... standard, and the interior is German.
But for technical capabilities, handling, driving pleasure and overall economy you cannot get better.
The problem with those monsters is the HUUUUUUUGE price you have to pay to service it. Work is 60-70 pounds per hour at BMW, and all items are hugely overpriced.
If you think Peugeot's pricing is bad, you better wait for the first check-up at the dealer...

The 316i I was in once wasn't, it had some "sport" pack which meant replacing the shock absorbers with bits of lead pipe.lozz wrote:Ithink Bmws are ok. there nice looking comfy motors,
The old 7 series the old man had was comfy, if you are going to insist on buying german at least do it properly, something like that or a big S class.

well indeed: inline 6 is the canonical BMW engine.sirwiggum wrote:if you are going to insist on buying german at least do it properly
I'm not sure whether I believe the fuel economy. The 520s on Fuelly don't seem to be able to manage much above 45. Although maybe if you can afford a BMW then you don't need to worry about the cost of fuel. (Although you'd have thought the tailgaing would get that down a bit. (Is this what the front parking sensors are really for?))
Anyway, we're all obviously just jealous

So why don't we all just go and get a BMW?
Stuart did.

On my old cavalier if you put the key in the door and twist a little bit towards the locking position the electric windows would close... Now theres technology for you.highlander wrote:If you press and hold the lock button on the Coupe, the windows closeBailes1992 wrote:The main reason he phoned was because he also found out if you press and hold the lock button the mirrors fold in![]()

In my old D8 GLX if you put the key in the lock and jiggled it around a bit the doors would sometimes unlock - You don't get that kind of feature in these silly modern cars. Progress - my arse!!!!scotty73 wrote:On my old cavalier if you put the key in the door and twist a little bit towards the locking position the electric windows would close... If you lift up the left hand side stalk behind the steering wheel the right indicator comes on and if you press it down the left indicator comes on.
Not many Beemer drivers know that either.
