Not really impressed myself. I hated the old one, just looked so chavvy. New one is much better looking but doesn't look much different to the standard GTC.

Saw a GTC at lunchtime.

First thought, the bloody wheels are huge!

Second thought, the car itself is probably as long as a Cavalier.

Third thought, other than the wheels, it doesn't look *that* different than a base Astra. You wouldn't have gotten a merit looking like a GTE back in the day, but now they are all bodycoloured and have some sort of alloy, 15" at least.

Driven a Vectra VXR before. Ridiculously fast but the chassis cant keep up.

Bloody torque steer and understeer. My old V6 vectra wasn't that powerful but always struggled to put power down from a standing start and understeered like mad through roundabouts.

Honestly, I've never seen suck a bunch of gibbering half-witted f*ck-sticks as VXR drivers, behaving like the accelerator is a digital control (ON / OFF), and cutting people up left, right, and centre.

The Astra VXR has an accelerator just like that. The turbo is dreadful, it's on or off making cornering at speed almost impossible. Nothing....nothing......240bhp, understeer, crash. I drove the entire VXR range at a promotional day at Oulton Park and all of them, with the exception of the VXR8 and to a lesser extent the Corsa, were thoroughly hopeless on track. Whilst everyone had a good time thrashing a car that wasn't theirs, I didn't speak to one person who was interested in buying one. Despite having the most power, they some how consistently come out last on any track orientated test. In fairness, Vauxhall know what they are doing, they are built and marketed to chavs who are only interested in traffic light grand prix and hanging about in the KFC car park, and they've done a great job of that.

When I was driving the Vectra VXR, Traffic lights before the road opens up to an NSL dual carraigeway, up beside me some cocky middle management git in an A4.

It was like when a plane takes off. The A4 was dust. Cracking fun.
