Sorry to hear about your problems mate. Remember that GP surgeries are private businesses, and if they're messing you around, you are perfectly entitled to take your business elsewhere. They are handsomely rewarded to provide a service to you, if they are falling short, go and see someone else. I don't know if this is still the case, but surgeries used to get bonuses for seeing you within a certain time frame. This means that they are quids in if you make an on the day appointment, as technically you are being seen the same day, regardless if you've been trying to get an appointment all week or not.
