The old man had Granadas of old and swore by them. Tried and tested engines, RWD layouts. The thing that killed them (up until about the 2000s!) was rust.
The recent Fords I've come in contact with, the other half's last car a 2005 Fiesta which had done 35k but the alternator failed and the clutch was on it's way out, and a friend who had a child and bought a 2007 Focus as a family car but it has been in already for steering fluid pipe, electronics, wheel bearings and an issue whereby the washer jet lets water drip into the spark plug holes
Still not convinced, Ford still seem to be a finance company with a sideline in making fleet cars, alright for the 3 years before they go to resale auction, then its fair game for their parts department.
I thought going up and down motorways was a comfortable life for a big saloon/hatch? On gumtree they always put that in the advert "all motorwey miels" despite them living in the middle of nowhere where the nearest motorway is a 2 hour drive away.... (If it hasn't got cows on it, it's a motorway...)
