One's gotta go :/

Post by Roylewaa »

Well running 2 cars is becomming a little bit of a strain on the finances, so ive decided to downsize to 1 car, so which is it going to be?

Weighed up the pro's and cons and have decided to sell the Mondeo and keep the 406 :cheesy:

Reason being the 406 is cheaper to run, insure and cheaper to fix if it goes wrong, the Mondeo is only managing around 30 mpg around the doors, whearas the 406 is getting neirly 45, and ive a feeling the dmf is starting to get a little tired on the Mondeo, and being a 600 quid job to replace thats more than the cars worth, yes the Mondeo is 4 years younger but doesent mean its a better car

Ive just done the back brakes on the 406 which were a total nightmare, done front droplinks and replaced the exhaust so there is nothing wrong at all with the old girl, apart from running for 20 seconds after you turn the ignition off

Mondeos are alright, ilike them,
But iwouidnt have another Mk3.

the parts are Abeit expensive, And with seeing loads of clean Mk3s in the Scrapyard, all mostly scrapped because of the Dmf
it puts me right off them,
id have another clean Mk2 tho they where alot better built me thinks been looking for one to stash in the garage for a Rainy day but
carnt find out thats worthy of dry storing ..

the 406s are better buy than the mk3 mondeys me thinks much less hastle,

If insurance wasen't so silly I'd have another 1.9TD 406 in a heartbeat!

Lovelly Executive in Diablo with chessnut leather, D9 doorcards, and a D9 exterior.

But insurance on a 1.9TD is over £2000 for me. Thats why I had to get rid of my HDi90.

Goto live with my 4 year old Mondeo now

Ive had 5 mk2 Mondeo's and I agree that in my opinion they are better put together than the mk3, only thing to watch, especially now they are getting on a bit is the rear arches and sills for rot
i had a mint V6 Ghia X, all the toys and lovely to drive, sold it for £700 (3 years ago) and still regret it

They're's 7 mk3's in my local breakers to 1 ex taxi D9 so that speaks volumes

My Mondeo's doors were all rotton on the inner seams, which is common for them, and that tell tale engine vibration and the starter motor becomming noisy it was time to get rid, managed to sell it this afternoon for £525 :D
Was a nice car to drive, but with 212k on was starting to sound like an egyption taxi

2001 Y plate

I sold it back to my father in law, I know I could probably of got more selling on Gumtree or ebay, although with 212k on and clocks that say 110k as I fitted trip enabled clocks from a tdci it might have put people off with the mileage being wrong
