Forgot you had a Volvo 'n' all - that's three actual geniune-article Volvo owners here.

This forum is taking a distinctly Swedish turn, so in honour of this, it's now time for something completely different:

To be honest I've been wrapped up in life's trials and tribulations. Still keeping the faith though :) My wife's Father passed away very suddenly whilst on holiday in Lanzarote back in March and the rest of the year has just been a blur.

It was my son's sports day, the V40 was parked in the school car park. A teacher came to get my wife saying she'd better go and see the car; a bloody fire engine had reversed into it. To make it worse the driver is Father to one of the kids in my son's class
No-one in the car thank gawd but it was uneconomical to repair (you seem to hear that a lot lately, barstewards  )

Dai

Has your lovely Exec now found a good home ? If not, I could be very interested - my 406 Exec saloon inconveniently caught fire as i was driving across Dartmoor recently and is sadly no more ! (If yours has gone, do let me know anyway and I'll post a WANTED on the website) Many thanks.

You're not going to believe this crap! Seems the old Pug had one last trick up her sleeve for me.

Having returned from my hols and re-started the conversation about the car with a couple of interested parties, I decided I'd better take the old girl for a run on Sunday evening since she'd been standing for a few weeks.... and she bloody broke down on me!!!

Driving along fine and then she just cut out, "Anti-pollution" message and engine management light came on, although it re-started immediately and ran fine for a while (with the EML on), then cut out again, re-started again and drove home.... I don't really know what to do with it now. Rang the Pug specialist in Bridgend who's done all the work on this car and his diagnostic computer has died and he's not planning on replacing it for a while due to the high cost, so he can't help me! I don't know of another independant with the right kit, and I'm not taking it to the dealer 'cos I simply don't trust them. I'm currently pondering my options.

One thing's for sure though, I'm not going to sell it to a friend / club member with a potential fault (unless it's sold as such) ....

The fault code is P1113 which states IAT sensor, but that was the same code which led to the HP fuel problem of last year (just out of warranty by the way  ). Could be a bit of damp or a sensor, could be another fuelling issue. I just want it off my drive, anyone want to make me an offer as it is??

Can't fekking believe this!! Dunno what to do now.

Oh what a shitter man. I would disconnect the Battery for 24hrs and try again? it should be something simple like a dodgy reading from a sensor (probably due to not being in daily use) you might try unplugging/wiggling any sensor connectors you can find just for the hell of it?

It can't be the HP pump surely? my money's on the fact it has been sat around. My Volvo threw a wobbly the day after I bought it because it had been shunted around the dealers started/stopped/started and the ECU couldn't work out what to do so flagged the Engine Light - turned out to be a fault with the short term/long term fuel trim because of the lack of recent use.

Ouch thats horrible timing, glad i read this i was about to message you on failbook to see if you've sold it.

3 options as i see it.
1 do as Welly says and hope to solve it on the cheap.
2 sell it as it is

Or 3... and dare i say it.

Oo-er :supafrisk:

Braking for parts can bring more than the cars worth as a whole........BUT....... you'd have to live with a sorry looking heap on your front for a few months and that's never a good look :|

Dai, did you ever get offered a trade-in against the Volvo? can you humor me as to the suggested figure?

He offered "5-600, OK, 800, well I might be able to run to a grand" but I blagged more than that off for a cash deal so in reality I would've been paying them to take it off me!!
