Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
When Lidl first appeared here I bought a few bits but they usually turned out to be crap. I bought a vacuum cleaner from them (not the one here), bagless, cyclone etc. but all it does is circulate the crap until it grinds itself into a fine powder which then blocks the filter. I think my only concern with that there wet and dry jobbie would be where to store it until they collect the big rubbish...

Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
i had a bagless proaction hoover from argos, it did exactly the same as you said, the bin just had the dirt cycling round and round which after a week clogged the filter and left the thing useless and finding a replacement filter was impossible.

Buy an old Vax mate,
the Orange ones,
Ebay/carboot sale etc,
they last years. and when they do break you can fix them,as theres always parts for them cheap,

Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
I bought the lidl vacuum cleaner, seems to be a very good machine, not too sure about how to use the wet suction function lidl instructions can be a bit tiresome to follow
as they constantly refer to a number which relates to an arrow on the diagram on the first page which means a lot of page flicking and finding the numbers
but apart from that there is a lot of kit, every concievable end is there, one for between the front seats and centre console, even a smaller tube that is useful round tight spaces with an adaptor which fits onto the electric jigsaw very nicely. Its also possible to attach the hose in a way that it blows the air out, which has its uses round the engine bay, even inflating a paddling pool is possible. The main suction hose itself is 3m which is handy for the car no need to move the whole hoover to the other side of the car, the hose can be moved across.
The downsides i can see is that the stainless steel drum could get dented very easily, and the power cable doesnt reel in at the touch of a button.

Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
If that one appears in Lidl here I might be tempted then - a proper one costs 5 times that and upwards
What sort of filter does it have? Does it have a big ping pong ball in it?

Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
the filter is a can shaped thing quite similar to the air filter in the suzuki, but ebay has plenty new filters and bags available for this model.

Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
my granny has a henry, but this lidl thing has a lot more suction power, i took it to the car and if lifted the stones no problem, even a paintbrush i was using for round the seats to get rid of dust the thing sucked it out of my hand and dumped it straight in the bag.
As for changing the bag its very easy and the beer keg tank means it will work without the bag, the only reason to use it is to stop the filter clogging up with sawdust, and other hoover bags will fit into this one.

Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
Can you empty the bag, or does the whole lot go in the bin?
I have an industrial vacuum cleaner I "liberated" from a cupboard at work, very much like a big Henry. Not a wet & dry but someone had tried to use it as one, hence it being dumped in a cupboard & forgotten

Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
The bag hasnt filled up yet, its massive, but even when it fills there isnt many bags that cant be emptied out and used again.
I would say this thing is as good as the old stuff, unlike modern crap hoovers it doesnt have imitation alloy wheels or gimmicky attachments that spin a head with bristles in a vein attempt to clean carpets quicker, or the most pointless feature a speed control knob (why would you want a hoover to run at a lower speed its absurd)
An unusual hobby there, if it keeps him happy then no harm done, at least discussing old vacuum cleaners would be more interesting than discussing old stamps.

Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
I was hoping for something like blow outable cloth, like my Henry clone. I never actually manage to empty out and reuse a bag without making a big dusty mess
I have actually used vacuum cleaners (not Hoovers, Hoover is a trade name and I reckon we shouldn't give them free advertising) on less than full power, usually when I want to pick something up but not the thing it's on. 999 times out of 1,000 it is indeed pointless.
Also, nothing sucks like an Electrolux (their words, not mine
)

Re: lidl wet and dry cleaner
No blow outable cloth, although the filter itself could be blown out a few times before replacing it. But Bags are not too expensive anyhow ebay has a 5pk for £7 which is acceptable, and it should take other bags.
(not using the hoover name, i know they are a brand sorry, its just its a nicer word to type than vacuum)
