It's not always a good sign, they can be removed. Although doctors aren't really known for towing burger vans over mountains...

I guess a substantial discount isn't on the cards from a dealer, easier for him to wait for a proper mug...
Good shout on the Defap Mate,

thats what im thinking, especialy with the Mfd being none -op it couid be hiding something :?

if it needs a Defap. he will be paying for it and have it sorted

Got it from one end of the carpark to the other and it oferheated. Turned it off and it wouldn't restart.

I bought it in auction for £500.
I put it back into auction, see how much I get for it.

Worse case scenario I get it picked up and scrapped and I loose £400.
Sorry to hear that,

But with it being a Vw. it wouid More than likely Break for more than you paid for it,
if youve got space and time thats the Route iwouid take anyway,

or just sell the Whole thing too a Vdub Breaker, they normaly pay well for them,
Wish I had room too!
Would love to get it home and try fix it up.
Was immaculate too! Automatic and sounded lovely. But after it had warmed up it became obvious it was lacking a little on one cylinder :(

I'm now 100% convinced all cars in an auction are there for a reason.

Sorry to hear you got landed with a Bad.en
with auctions All cars are agamble unless, your buying the likes of an ex Mobility or a Fairly newish motor you get some form of waranty,
ive bought a few from Auction, and ive not done too bad, But some dealers will ditch there Rubbish in there,

saddly if you want a Bargain for under a grand . car Auctions arnt the place to go , Your best off buying private, at least that way you can have alook properly at what your buying,

Carnt you find anyone local who will Trailer it back for you?.
Atleast then if you got it back on your Drive way. if its none fixable. youd have a better chance at getting your Money back (Ebay)
Dont take silly Money for it Mate, Seriously you will get your Money back if you advertised it or slapped it on Ebay as Spares or Repairs.

Needn't cost anything much - you would have no problem bashing the element out.
I could talk you through reprograming the ecu, all you need is a Galletto 1260 for about £20.....
Or i'll do it for you....
Or one of the coupe guys might be nearer you....

If you don't decide to keep it, I could very well be interested.

PM me if you want to talk about it

I think you NEED to reprogram the ECU anyway to tell it to forget the DEFAP counter system etc.

You keep a copy of the original files and put them back if something's not right (which is unlikely) I wouldn't let it bother you especially if someone experienced is willing to help with it.

They are famous for broken water pumps I think? no circulation and rapid overheating. I looked into buying one of those once but was put off a bit (by temperature problems again) due to something wrong with the radiator fan controller - another common fault.

Idea was Becca used it for a few months until she gets her car sorted and I have it for a weekend bruiser.

Bought it at auction for £500.

When I looked at it it was freezing cold, no warning nights, revved up niceley, was smooth etc.

When I got it 10 mins later the coolant water light was on and it was overheating. Switched it off, no coolant so filed it up and it just dissapeered with white smoke comming out the exhaust.

Haven't got the time or the money to be sorting it out right now, so looks like I will have to take a loss on it.

If I had somewhere to keep it I would have it transported home.
